Thanks to the Oak Park farmers market for another great season!! Just one week 'til trick-or-treat.

Bell peppers, tomatoes, red onions, apples, yellow potatoes, butternut squash and bakery bread from the farmers market.

Fresh donuts made special for the last day of the farmers market -- frosted apple cinnamon and frosted chocolate. There was already a long line for them when the market opened this morning.

From last year's trick-or-treat, my eldest grandson dressed as **Mario!** My daughter is pushing a stroller ahead of him on the sidewalk.

I didn't work help desk myself, but I agree it's a great way to start. Two former coworkers launched their tech careers that way (higher ed software company). One coworker eventually became manager of documentation and the other a lead developer.

I roasted a pie pumpkin for this cake. I'm drying out the seeds for a snack as well. The frosting calls for 4 cups of powdered sugar -- I only had 2 cups but it turned out fine. From 1943, The Modern Family Cookbook by Meta Givens

PEANUT BREAD

1¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup peanut butter
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

Sift flour, measure, and resift with soda and salt. Combine sugar and peanut butter, mixing well; add well-beaten egg and beat until smooth.
Add four mixture and buttermilk alternately, beating until smooth after each addition. Turn into buttered loaf pan (4 by 8 by 2½ inches) and bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for 1 hour, or until well browned.
