Up at 5am ( #5amwritersclub , #amediting ) writing a fourth email to my editor about the absolute shitshow of scattered edits I have planned for this manuscript.

Can't ever keep them all in one place, even when I try to (collected from phone notes, three notebooks, and a doc [and my brain]).

The price tag being so high (and continuing to balloon) makes me think the bunker is getting an overhaul/extension/re-fortification and the ballroom is just the roof/"cover".

A poem I wrote after reading Megan Falley's poem about grief after losing Andrea Gibson. It is moving, and resonated with me deeply.

The grief from losing a spouse, or child or parent, is not the same as the grief of losing physical ability, but the words still rang true to me.

“The End of (my) Rope”

Some children are enamored with learning how to tie different knots
Most have different uses, but some have mechanical and practical overlap
When you learn them dictates how quickly you can put them to use when under duress

Gentle fingers do not tie a strong knot
Hand-wringing does not translate into a secure boat in rough harbor waters
Deliberate motions, unwavering focus, strong base and steady pressure

(Put some worn-in gloves on for god’s sake)

Don’t you hate when ripple and crest try to tear the vessel from you?
Some undulating force moves where you can’t see, you can only imagine
Clamoring angrily on the dock while the skiff is tossed here and yon

Your counterpart on the boat has wet hands – with sea and blood and sweat
The wind whips the gloves, the boots, the hat away
They’ve only the end of the rope

A good knot extends the fraying braid
This is the beginning of the rope again
Stained by hands who fought through every motion

Take a breath and be patient
They aren’t drifting out to sea just yet
Decide if you’re a siren’s call, or a lighthouse.

The trick is learning how to tie another length of rope to it every time you get to the "end" of your rope.

I am also incorporating Bioluminescence (thanks for the lavender addition by the way!). This is a period of renewed and *new* creative ventures for me. Calm mind + free-flowing emotions, determination, balance, and letting my aura glow ✨

i want you to take the words that come to you like a bolt of lightning and write them down. i am so serious. it does not matter when and what they are. let them out. novels and poetry start as single lines.

SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.

I don't do much Captura (might do one or two for this), and I'm a terrible artist, but I'm going to use these as writing prompts!

There was a Naberus contest a few years ago for microfiction - going to take inspo from that, because I LOVED writing for it.

Are there plans to have native video compression? Many creators can't move their already filmed content to Skylight because it doesn't automatically compress. For some, manually compressing each video could take hours. Every other major video social site already does this.

I like tap/scratch, whisper/soft spoken (no super high voices, love educational topics/rambles), face/ear touching.

When the work can be done by skilled professionals, or learned with dedication to a craft, there is no reason to use AI. It is a complete copout in creative spaces.

Learn the skill you are interested in. A LLM doing the hard work is not unique or impressive.
