Y'all can go as low a €1 - if a few of you do it, I get enough to eat properly which would be amazing please.

Sorry for asking.

Like if a few people did that.. I hate Sundays.

The sort of report a great paper publishes. It’s a great read about who the man with the gun in this photo, is. Experts now know his name & that he was a school teacher before WWII.

Awesome thread. Well worth a read.
Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.

Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph

Because this does NOT add up!

No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

Here’s Paul

He’s 56

So he’s still a good 10 years away from retirement

He lives in Cobham, the Second most desirable town to live in the whole of Britain!

He apparently hasn’t been saving into a pension because of a scandal that happened - before he started his working life…🤔

Yup. I'm also completely unsurprised none of them did. Our industry's gender imbalance is just normalized & accepted. 🧐

The problem with the Labour party is that they think this matters. The Reform voters don't really care about the numbers. They don't care about facts. They just don't want to ever see people who look different to them.
Some quick pointers for the government
🚨Asylum seekers are not, by any measure, "illegal migrants"
🚨The latest immigration stats have pretty much nothing to do with this government
🚨It's a genuinely weird flex to boast about making the country you govern less attractive

Provisional figures for net migration to the UK show levels dropped to 204,000 in the year to June 2025.

Apropos of nothing specific, but I remember when it was required for serving soldiers to be reminded every year, at least, that not only could they refuse illegal orders, but it was their duty to do so.

Wild to think that would ever be controversial.

Something to be aware of - stuff coming in to the UK that is less than £135 is customs charge free. That is ending in 2029 and it sucks for a lot of components that are impossible to source in the UK.

I am pleased to announce that my Air France track record has continued.

I've never, ever, had an AF flight with less than 1 hour delay. This is my sixth flight with them this year, where the delay has been over 2 hours.

And they never agree to compensation.

I see grocery/takeout shaming discourse going around again, so this is your periodic historian reminder that cooking from scratch daily while working has never been sustainable, and for millennia everyone either relied on takeout & restaurants or ate in huge households w/ big dorm-like group dining.

Fun fact. The airport departure boards still say the flight is on time (boarding should have closed 1 min ago), and that gate info will be available at 1035...

It is 1107.

The aircraft is currently still parked on the runway in a totally different country. There is a minimum of 3 hours delay here.
November 16, 2025 at 11:07 AM
Another airline thing that annoys me. My flight today is listed as "on time" on all the terminals.

However the aircraft itself is over 2 hours late taking off to get her. It should have landed here 15 min ago, but hasn't departed yet.

There is no way this flight can have less than a 2 hrs delay.

This government has said the UK is "the destination of choice" for asylum seekers in Europe. That is simply untrue.

Now saying: claims in the UK are rising, while they are falling across Europe. Accurate of Germany (the destination of choice), of France (still more claims than UK), but not Spain

A visible lack of control of boats in the Channel, and of the asylum system in hotels is a problem

More control is needed: controlled routes for asylum with closing irregular routes can shift

This over-spun pull factors case likely to have marginal effects on control, numbers + public confidence
