ICE agents kidnapped a US citizen in Chicago because she didn’t “look” American to them. She even had her US passport on her. 🤬

Has anyone experimented with using an MLAA/SMAA type scheme (Just the edge detect/search scheme) to detect aliasing in the output of ex. a raymarcher and then use that to increase samples over only the obviously aliased output regions?

Thought I had in the shower yesterday

This is called LTSC. It exists already.

At what point will we realize that a new global war is underway? We need to understand the extreme danger that we are in so that we don't stumble further into the darkness.
My latest.

When Did the New Global War Begin?
This past week, Russia escalated its incursions into European and North American airspace.

This man will not be fired for calling for the murder of American citizens, yet multiple journalists/reporters/teachers lost their job for accurately reporting things Charlie Kirk actually said and stood for.

But it’s the “violent left” that’s the problem

someone on reddit (u/Eris--) has been doing these gorgeous black and white illustrations of the girsh nephilim from caves of qud and i just need more people to see them
Compression with an attack that's slower than your transient, will in effect be an expander!

It will get hit with the very fast attack signal, start responding after that signal has already passed through, and then clamp down in volume on the sustain/body. Actually making your problem *worse*
Compressors are dynamics processors, that react to the input, and based on internal parameters then respond

This *can* in effect be instant, with the right design, but a lot of them don't have attack fast enough to make them what's effectively a clipper/saturation.

I've had this come up a few times, someone just asked me: I tried compressing my hi-hats but they're still peaking, and turning them down doesn't fix the sharpness.

There's a few common scenarios that happen here, but I feel like the one that catches most people out is:
Somebody told me it needed more compression

New automation tools and tricks, coming in Bitwig Studio 6 ✏️🛠️️

Ableton continuing to miss fixing some core issues while adding things that quite frankly don't need to be integrated

Bitwig is a breath of fresh air if anyone's looking to try something new
Do you really need a subscription based online shop built into your creative tools? Is this how you want to be making music?
Not at all.

But I stopped using Ableton for Bitwig some time ago, and rarely look back aside from when I'm working on a collab at a friends place.

They seem to keep missing core problems and adding things like that. Stem separation is nice, if it's well integrated, for bootlegs but even that...
Afternoon nap, cardio, and a new Pendulum album and nowhere I have to go

Not a terrible Saturday
How can you not like motorcycle jousting?
Yeah, quickly goes 30-100% more money for diminishing returns

4090 was the only high end that was "worth" it in the last while (if you could find one that was near msrp!)

Good to know, I'm looking to upgrade in a bit and the only card that looks like it makes sense to me for my uses is the 70ti
I feel like that's the best choice in the current market if you need a new GPU

Lower end feels overpriced, higher end as well.

It would be great if AMD was more competitive in productivity apps (Blender is a big one for me) or supported their cards for longer in pro use

“Some of us aren’t creative enough to brainstorm without ChatGPT!” Well then maybe you should sit this one out.
Took a break for a bit, but back to at least 5k on the bike every morning

So funny how easy it is to forget how much that helps when you don't do it for a couple weeks.
Broadband dynamics?

I'd look at crest factor, but, applied to LUFS as the basis.

Like ratio of peak to short term, peak vs integrated.

This gets you something dimensionless, already k-weighted with standard integration times (by the ebu/itu spec) and distinct from LRA.
