Young adults who are taught to do things that actually matter to society, like repairing things, caring for, entertaining & teaching people; growing, catching & foraging food are equipped for the future we leave them. Capital sees them as unexploitable & surplus, but we'll all be glad for them soon.
The combination of fascism covid more fascism genocide capitulation to fascism and the clear goal of AI tech bros to eradicate the workforce and make all jobs and future goals irrelevant as we all slide into poverty while eleven rich people become gods is really doing a number on us.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

"AI" can be deployed as a tool to replace democratically determined accountablily for everything that affects our lives, to strip us of what little personal agency still remains to us & to direct our collective anger about that into an uncaring & blameless void.

I was worried my kids would rely on AI as a shortcut but they hate it. They use "AI" to mean stupid or cheap ("aimbot" means good). I tried to say AI is helpful for some things and my daughter said "yeah, for making you stupid." This is how they talked about Drake after "Not Like Us" came out
