I'm not saying the fictional model railroad's lore isn't getting all encompassing but I could see doing a whole photographic chronology.
There was an irony to time travel in that the future was easier to explain than the past. The future was simple: people were no longer confined to one point of view or one point in time. How did you even begin to explain what the past was like, though? You could only live it to understand. #SciFiFri

It’s really incredible when train infrastructure lasts for 100+ years
ALERT: The Green Line will shut down for 15 days (December 8–22) between North Station and Babcock Street/Kenmore/Heath St. for major tunnel upgrades — including replacing catenary equipment dating back to the 1890s.

Free shuttles + fare-free options available.

When you accidentally hit that button on the mouse you forgot existed that makes the cursor go really slow and for few seconds it's like what.... is... happening... or start blaming windows 11.

"It's Got Whales" 🤣
I firmly believe Star Trek IV: It's Got Whales is the best one simply because it is a 2 hour episode of Star Trek and not trying very hard to be A Movie

A final shot of the California Zephyr as it streams into the afternoon sunlight. This shot really catches the perfect metallic weathering job in the cars my friend Gio did. He’s amazing! The entire train is custom weathered.

I always thought the EMD LWT-12 famously used the Rock Island Aerotrain and the 485 Series from Japan looked similar, but now that I see them right next to each other they really only share that one characteristic.

Found: a good concrete pad analog using foamclay with clay powder pressed into it (first stage here).

Lost: connectivity to track.

I redid some wiring so maybe it's not the fauxcrete's fault.

I still do the thing where I forget which way the reverser is set and shoot off the end of the track, and that would not work well on this floating model train layout. No track bumpers either? 😓https://modeltrainmedia.com/members/matthew/activity/8167/

Wait, how do model train magnetic decouplers work? I know how they work in the sense they're the opposing magnet for magnetic couplers, but so you drive the car over the uncoupler and it breaks the connection, and you can pull the loco away. Then what? How do you couple if you the magnet's there?

TIme to make the donuts! A real world example of a Timesaver shunting puzzle with some industrial sidings, including the Krispy Kreme doughnut batter factory on the old Effingham RR.
A Z gauge shunting question: the line from C to D should be 6 times longer than the longest rolling stock (including locomotives). Where do we get 6 from? I think I'd like to know how many cars long between the points and off of each side.
