Z Scale 1:220 scale model trains, scifi. Prone to writing. SFW posts and reposts. Remember to ask yourself "What do you need at this moment?"

"Trouble with you,
is the trouble with me.
Got two good eyes
but still don't see."
I'm reminded how tough it must be to design unique uniforms for #scifi series when I see how the uniforms in Stargate Atlantis look like they tried to sew the top of a cocktail dress onto a pair of overalls.

7UP GOLD was a cinnamon ginger soda that was rushed through test markets in 1987. Its national release saw a significant marketing push that confused consumers, since its caffeine content directly clashed with 7Up’s “Never Had It, Never Will” campaign.

No way am I typing all those alt-texts again but I thought this was a decent model railroad post for those interested in Z scale who may want to start with N instead. N-stead?😅
OK, so aside from the obvious I was able to conquer my fearsome tiny foes, Rokuhan Z scale rail joiners, having learned the secret "wiggle it, just a little bit" and the track is locked back down as intended with the remaining concrete. It's tight to the layout but can be removed

The late afternoon light today lends a sort of beauty to even the back alley, the junk behind D.B.McNooch's little machine shop, that sumac that survives in spite of all we do. Murray Skynard's VW van, the latest thing.

What do you think about exaggerated shading? It does lend visual impact without looking weird but only when it's done this well but takes a lot of skill and a good eye to know when it's enough.
Tamiya T-55A 1/35. Clean, semi-imaginary look with exaggerated shading for visual impact. Markings inspired by 1968 Operation Danube.

Realistic model railroad or plastic model diorama (or just diorama builders) what is your preferred technique for texturing and painting asphalt roads or parking lots and concrete as well?

Been slowly going through and testing/tweaking with my trains and I finally got my BLI Reading T1 to smoke properly, it's been a bit of a hassle finding the right balance and all but really happy.

N Gauge Dad's Army modellers, if you missed out the first time round, we've got a few of the J Jones and Hodges wagons left in stock.

Then it hurt more when I realized maybe that "concrete" wasn't going to come up all in one piece, and the wires underneath ran all the way up to there. For expediency, I'll put the working turnout with the melted-out short rail and fix that. Fixing the bad one could take a long, long time for me.

Why are so many movies 2 1/2 hours now? Is it because they're thinking less and less about theater goers vs watching at home? Have you tried that lately... sitting through that long of a movie without pausing it?

Innovative new idea: a 10 or 15 minute break half-way through.🤔

You ever bite the inside of your mouth so hard you have a sudden urge to punch yourself in the jaw in self-defense? There's probably something to learn about human nature in that.

Belated #scifiri to you.
It's funny that for the farther back you went, the harder it was to tell a decade by how it smelled when you first arrived. The 20th though, you could even tell what part of the decade. This 1949 smelled like ash, which wasn't good. The city was rubble which shouldn't have happened. #scififri 1/3

I have to admit with all the theater lately Nick Harkaway's wish from over a decade ago "I want politics in a greengrocer’s apron, showing up to work" is resonating.

Sure, it hurt a little but after gaining the confidence of seeing all three rails with locomotives lit up on them and hearing the imaginary section crew yelling "you can do it!" (over again but better) I went ahead and tore up the malf'ing turnout to fix. May as well add the other 2. #modelTrains

Everyone rants about the old men of model trains…meanwhile I cry because they’re slowly passing away…like Mr. John Caldwell who helped me join my local HO scale group, and my grandpa who bequeathed me his little antique Lionel collection

Model railroading layout question: if you tilted the layout would the static grass not be at an angle (once you untilted it)?

You'd think being an extra in "Reality" would be more fun but to save money they really don't put too much effort into your backstory except to make sure you end up in the background at the right time. #scififri

I was in the checkout line the other day and there were giant foot-long hot dog sized candy bars right next to the original sized ones which looked like Halloween candy in comparison, and they were both the exact same price.
