to me, “you should create for yourself” and “you deserve to be acknowledged for what you make” are two statements that should coexist. chasing engagement will rot your soul, while being neglected will see your passion wither. loving what you make is a failsafe for when the engagement never comes.

If it's a sub or hosted elsewhere, I treat it like it can get taken away at any point, and whatever money I put in is for the experience. If the experience alone isn't worth it, there is not point in "buying" it. Also....I miss those cool game manuals that you used to get with physical copies. 🥲

The funny thing was that I *did* own all my music. I had all the CDs, and was using iTunes to sync to my ipod. After that little incident, I stopped using iTunes. Thank god I had all the CDs, but it was a lot of time spent fixing the mess.

Hard copies is the way - especially for photos.

altered. When she bought specific albums *for* that recording. She didn't want an altered/adjust/completely remade piece. She wanted and bought *that* recording.

And I wouldn't put it past companies to do this. Hell, I remember decades ago iTunes butchering my music files with some "helpful" sort function that went off one day and scrambled everything. Years later, my mom raged about how recordings had been

I know I try keep Bluesky posts Genshin or animation/art orientated, but it's really bothering me that one day we could wake up to our laptops and phones telling us they ran a nice update that went through all our photos and "improved them" with AI.

Memories of loved ones who have passed, altered.
