I mean, only due to it's clear illegality.
Leavitt: "The president tapped into tariff revenue to keep WIC money going out the door. He found a creative solution to keep the troops paid. And rather than congratulate him for doing that, this unprecedented action to get our troops paid, Dems want to sue him for it. They're saying it's illegal."
I have a similar situation and feeling. Very nice thread, better than I could manage
1/ I guess I’m ‘The Good Immigrant’:

Been here most of my life now, never claimed benefits, paid taxes, worked for the NHS, taught students, done research for public good, volunteered, spoke English fluently.

So why do I feel so alienated and hurt by the government’s anti- immigrant rhetoric?

And this might be the time to remind you:

If you are a National Trust member, then you must remember to vote in their board election.

They are online and open until the very end of October.

The far-right groups are trying to take it over again!

So please make sure you do vote.

Right

I'm a very fit 52 year old bloke with no real vices apart from swearing a bit too much

Heart attack and quadruple bypass came as a complete shock and the NHS staffed by immigration saved my life

If you think you are immortal/invulnerable then vote Reform

Otherwise........

Hard to believe Kavanaugh's initial justification for the Kavanaugh Stop was made in good faith. Surely he knew he was describing a world that doesn't exist.

But it's truly infuriating to know he will suffer ZERO consequences, and SCOTUS admit ZERO error, despite such CLEAR evidence of mistake.

Libraries in Reform UK run Staffordshire are being forced to close.

They are refusing to hire much needed staff and refusing over time or paying for staff to be covered. This is resulting in libraries closing because of too few staff, despite there being available staff to cover.

The flow of money represents the wants and needs of everyone in an economy.

The problem with having billionaires is the same problem as trying to add huge numbers to tiny numbers using floating point.

Except that in this case the “tiny numbers” that get lost are “normal people’s wants and needs”.
One challenge I am finding on this campaign: I have great political metaphors that work for very niche audiences.

Surprising no one who paid attention over the last decade, except for NYT headline writers:

The war on drugs has failed.
It punishes those with addictions, drives drug sales through the black market and ultimately kills people.

We need to grow up and make what’s so obviously the right decision.
We need to stop criminalising drugs.

the press doesn't seem to understand that we genuinely no longer have functional federal regulators or corporate oversight in any serious form across labor, financial, public safety, and consumer protection

it's kind of a big story, but they're so cowed by ownership they genuinely don't care

On the same day that a poll shows the Green Party in front of the Labour Party for the first time - it's time to take on Reform too.

Excuse me but, what the f*** is the point of targets to build homes that only the wealthy can afford? How does it help anyone who is not a property developer? And why does Labour care more about property developers than families? liveapp.inews.co.uk/category/398...
Leaked memo reveals Labour plan to slash affordable homes target
A requirement for developers to build affordable housing in London is set to be cut from 35% of new homes to 20%, in a move councils fear will spread across Britain

Out of a total of 23 impermissible political donations across all parties in 2025, 18 were to the Refukkers.

In separate news, Nine-Jobs Nigel is really keen on crypto going forward.
A cease fire in Gaza is fantastic, but this is reminding me of George Bush declaring “Mission Accomplished” in an aircraft carrier in 2003.

I wish I was confident the lessons of Iraq were about to be applied in Gaza.
