Had a lovely day at holiday parties today. Not expensive... Just homemade cookies and a cheese spread with crackers. Maybe not the healthiest diet but lovely to catch up with friends and meet new people.

A quick sidenote about this; one reason I stay on X is specifically because of exchanges like this, where @davidjbier.bsky.social and I got a prominent government official to make a claim so outrageous that it’s now ricocheting around the internet and actively undermining official PR campaigns.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

Well this is new to me .
The Winterfest Boat Parade is on tomorrow. The highlights show is a TV tradition in Boston as WHDH is owned by Sunbeam Television from Miami (It used to run after the Pope's mass on Xmas Eve before NBC decided to go long with it). Here is last year's parade.

UPDATE: I've heard from Jose's family. He's apparently been transferred to an ICE detention center in TX, but it's been days since they've been able to speak with him.
He needs medical care and to be able to speak with his family and lawyer. This obscene cruelty helps no one.

His family says Jose is a good man, with no criminal record, who works in roofing.
