The contract extension for Connor McDavid is likely going to be a short-term one in Edmonton. And for good reason.

Sharing this not just because I’m mentioned by name but wanted to also give a glove tap to Oilfans.com which preceded the Oilogosphere. As early as 2000(!), I was meeting up with folks from there. And many, like me, would go on to contribute to that blogging world.
I’d like to toot my own horn here, as well as that of my friends, by acknowledging that this month marks the 20th anniversary of the Oilogosphere. For those who don’t know, that’s the name given to the group of Edmonton Oilers bloggers who appeared after the 2005 NHL lockout. 🧵/1

I was little more than a lurker and then commenter in the Oilogosphere. But I learned an absolute ton from the people in this thread & others, with surprising applicability to areas beyond hockey.

I was glad to be able to contribute to it a little bit in my own way.

Uncle Dennis is working in the show. Wild.
May be old news, but I saw Carolina announced some hirings/promotions.

Dennis King, part of the old school Oilogosphere, was hired.

Kevin Kan, created cool vizs under Data Rink, was promoted.

The Edmonton Oilers made a reasonable bet signing Andrew Mangiapane. He's consistently helped his teams outchance opponents. But his productivity/point production has been steadily declining for a few years. Details:
