I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

Another one for your "we all need to vote for another party" holiday conversations.
On December 1st, Ford began cutting the sewage pipes to allow for raw sewage to discharge along Toronto’s lakeshore and beaches.

It’s a shocking abuse of power.

Families deserve clean, safe beaches—not sewage dumps to support a $2.2 billion taxpayer-funded megaspa at #OntarioPlace.

Only those with the density of Osmium can't see that Trump was Epstein's child-raping, sex-trafficking partner.

GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

Much of the current immigration policymaking—if this rampant clampdown and unleashing of brutalizing force can be called that—seems to be now distilled to a simple modus operandi: we do it because we can. My reflection on a year of hell for immigrants and the Trump administration's casual cruelty:
A year of hell for immigrants
In the first Trump administration, cruelty was the point. Now, it is the norm.

The way tech companies constantly do stuff that nobody asked for really tells you a lot about their bigger ideology. They tell themselves that you will like it over time. What they mean is you’ll learn to endure it, or you’ll give up. quality of UI is not actually anywhere on their radar
new iOS update is sleek and also defaults in Music to “you must want songs transition as they would on a dance floor.” so many people will wonder why they can’t just listen to an album. Apps > Music > Song Transitions > toggle off.

Always shocked by people on this site & elsewhere who will @ a working journo or writer, someone whose (in my case) pay hasn't increased in 13 years & who likely live/work precarious lives, with an indignant "paywall" or suggest a non-library workaround cheat. Such raw rudeness, nerve & contempt.
complaining about paywalls when so many journalists are being laid off and there are fewer market incentives to do great reporting and in-depth investigations, data analysis and features is also wild when everyone understands you need to pay for electronics, streaming services, and utilities
