i made a list of my favorite vocal synth producers, grouped them based on what voicebank they primarily use, and created a pie chart of the producer count for each voicebank. 18 producers make up this dataset. the results were surprising

all this to say that not counting views from clients using an adblocker is extremely corrupt and will hurt the real creators (the ones not catering to ipad kids with developing brains). a cold take i know but fuck youtube.

adsense is unreliable. adblockers were barely hurting the crap ad revenue. the real money is made with attention. views create that attention. views make it possible. attention is what powers things like patreon, sponsors, and merch (where the money is actually at).

so it is true that adblockers do not give ad revenue to the creator. that's always been the case. but ad revenue is chump change anyways. nobody actually lives off of it. in addition to terrible per view payout, getting demonetized or claimed over the most petty shit is unavoidable.
