Piles of shellfish washed up recently along Fingal’s coast. Aggressive winds brought by Storm Claudia were likely to blame, says Karin Dubsky, director of Coastwatch Ireland. In future, she'd like to see a volunteer response to such incidents, she said.

As I say here, this is not about saving the planet. The planet will be orbiting the sun long after we’re gone.

The question is, will there be a healthy, thriving human society on that planet? The answer to that question is very much up for grabs at this point.

If anyone wants to track votes at other councils (DLR? SDCC?), besides DCC and Fingal, which we at @dublininquirer.com are going to do, you're welcome to have a section on the website with your name on it, which you update and take responsibility for. Get in touch: [email protected].
I've added Fingal to our Council Vote Tracker, so people there can see how their councillors vote on issues in the chamber. Still plenty of work to do to clean up the design of the site, but here's the first two votes, from the budget meeting on 18 November. 1/

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.
