There were 3 main issues that the referendum foregrounded: a strengthened target, a detailed plan of reductions, and a mandatory clause of "socially adequate implementation".
This means if a measure increases costs for low- or middle-income households, policymakers must act to compensate.

This vote matters for Hamburg – and sends a strong signal far beyond.
The climate issue is alive: we can set the agenda and win!

Denn: zu Konflikten um Klimaschutzmaßnahmen kommt es vor allem dann, wenn diese nicht sozialverträglich umgesetzt werden. Bei einer sozial gerechten Umsetzung hat Klimaschutz immer noch große Mehrheiten hinter sich.

⚖️Hinzu kommt: Der Fokus des Zukunftsentscheids auf #Planbarkeit durch jährlichen Ziele und #Sozialverträglichkeit durch flankierende Maßnahmen ist aus wissenschaftlicher Perspektive goldrichtig.

🔥 Zugleich sehen wir aktuell in den USA, in Europa und auch in Deutschland Versuche, Klimaschutzmaßnahmen zu verzögern, abzuschwächen, oder zurückzunehmen.

⏱️ Der Zukunftsentscheid kommt also zu einem wichtigen Zeitpunkt: Gerade jetzt ist es wichtig, Klimaschutz wieder auf die Agenda zu setzen !

Warum unterstützen wir den Zukunftsentscheid?

🌍 Bereits 2050 könnte eine globale Erwärmung von 3° erreicht werden. Eine solche Entwicklung hätte gravierende Auswirkungen für unser Zusammenleben: eine Zunahme von Extremwetterereignissen, wirtschaftliche Schäden und gesundheitliche Risiken.

Die Abstimmung für den Hamburger #Zukunftsentscheid für Klimaschutz geht in die heiße Phase und die #Wissenschaft zeigt klare Kante - mit einem offenen Brief, den schon über 70 Hamburger Wissenschaftler*innen unterzeichnet haben.
