Official record for the most rain in 24 hrs in Florida is
23.28” in Key West on November 11-12, 1980.
Higher amounts, such as an estimated 38.7” in Yankeetown in 1950 & a possible 25.91“ in Fort Lauderdale in 2023, have been recorded or reported, didn’t meet the criteria for official records.

Looe Key is a protected coral reef south of Big Pine Key Florida. It is located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and the reef is named after HMS Looe, a ship that sank after running aground on the reef in 1744.

The surviving remains were here when St. Augustine arrived from Rome and worshipped here from AD 597. When the church was extended Roman bricks were used in its construction.
