I'm please to announce my new #OSR book: "Sunken Halls of the Demi-Lich"! This challenging adventure (levels 8-10) has your PCs invading the submerged & shattered tomb of an ancient demi-lich, in search of treasure & a good story! 💀 #dnd #d&d #osr #osric

Cover of the Starry Knight Press book "Sunken Halls of the Demi-Lich", featuring the demi-lich Dimarius, holding his staff of withering.

SYNOPSIS: You are enjoying some down time at the Golden Harp Inn, in the seaside village of Dùn Mara, along the western border of the nation of Dùn Bhriste. You’ve just been treated to a rather stirring tale by the skald-in-residence, one Justin Rakes, who sang of the doomed archmage Dimarius, who tried and failed to gain immortality. It comes as somewhat of a surprise when Justin approaches you after his show, and asks to join you. Intrigued, you offer him a seat, whereupon he tells you he pegged you as adventuring heroes from your gear and demeanor, and he chose to sing the “Ballad of Dimarius” tonight, because he has a proposition for you. He tells you Dimarius’ tale is real, that the demi-lich still lives and that he knows the location of this unspoiled tomb! Here is his pitch: Justin will give you his information and a magic sword, but he gets the exclusive artistic rights to record the tale of your taking on the demi-lich.

Are you ready at your own shot at immortality, being preserved in prose for all time for, ironically, taking down a deathless demi-lich?

Couldn't agree more with A.V. Club! It was a shameful use of outmoded & outdated tropes, and frankly it came off as sus AF. Like who were they writing for? Peak Idiocracy.

Just to be clear: this is about whether schools can observe a child’s preferred name and pronouns without parental agreement. Schools do not help students medically transition and never have.

Alito, joined by Thomas and Gorsuch, suggest that public schools violate the Constitution when they help a student transition (by acknowledging them as trans) without their parents' knowledge or consent.

Would force schools to out trans kids to their parents. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...
SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES
JONATHAN LEE, ET AL. v. POUDRE
SCHOOL DISTRICT R–1
ON PETITION FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED
STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE TENTH CIRCUIT
No. 25–89. Decided October 14, 2025
The petition for a writ of certiorari is denied.
Statement of JUSTICE ALITO, with whom JUSTICE
THOMAS and JUSTICE GORSUCH join, respecting the denial
of certiorari.
I concur in the denial of certiorari because petitioners do
not challenge the ground for the ruling below. But I remain
concerned that some federal courts are “tempt[ed]” to avoid
confronting a “particularly contentious constitutional questio[n]”: whether a school district violates parents’ fundamental rights “when, without parental knowledge or consent, it encourages a student to transition to a new gender
or assists in that process.” Parents Protecting Our Children, UA v. Eau Claire Area School Dist., 604 U. S. ___,
___–___ (2024) (ALITO, J., dissenting from denial of certiorari) (slip op., at 1–2) (citing Troxel v. Granville, 530 U. S.
57, 70 (2000) (plurality opinion)). Petitioners tell us that
nearly 6,000 public schools have policies—as respondent allegedly does—that purposefully interfere with parents’ access to critical information about their children’s genderidentity choices and school personnel’s involvement in and
influence on those choices. Pet. for Cert. 24. The troubling—and tragic—allegations in this case underscore the
“great and growing national importance” of the question
that these parent petitioners present. Parents Protecting
Our Children, 604 U. S., at ___ (slip op., at 1).

Look, I love #TimMeadows (comedy legend) and I have really enjoyed #HarrietDyer in other shows (she slays in American Auto), so, I gave #DMV on #CBS a shot. Tim gave a standout performance, of course, but the rest was utterly forgettable & truly terrible. The writing was drek; AWFUL shameful tropes.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.
