Wow! These Marana planning commissioners have ZERO morals ignoring folks. Just like Pima Co. supervisors Scott, Heinz & Christy & the Chambers of Commerce (call them). Good grief, you think tourism and small business revenues are down now, b/c of tariffs? Wait 'til data centers cause a mass exodus🔥
Marana Town Council will vote on 1/6 on whether or not to approve 600 acres for hyperscale data centers. Despite overwhelming opposition, on 12/10 the planning commission voted unanimously to recommend it. Here are just a few of the Marana residents who took time out of their evenings to say no.

Let’s be honest. He doesn’t care one whit about climate change. Why? He voted to put Tucson and Marana at the forefront: squandering our dwindling resources, raising electric rates and polluting our air & water + the noise, light, and dust pollution-by ramming MASSIVE data centers through. FOR WHO?

Tucson, Marana, Pima County, Arizona. For people thinking (buying in) that Data Centers will give them a few bucks or jobs, this is a good listen arguing that you are very, very wrong.

Besides draining our water and polluting our environment, data centers are horrible for children and their future.
I will be pushing for a moratorium on the construction of data centers that are powering the unregulated sprint to develop & deploy AI.

The moratorium will give democracy a chance to catch up, and ensure that the benefits of technology work for all of us, not just the 1%.

And still more bad news for Tucson and Marana citizens and environments, where data centers are being pushed through without oversight by local officials. As if dirty power, air, and water weren’t bad enough, now data center pollution could well be a forever legacy we leave our children:

The EPA is prioritizing review of new chemicals to be used in data centers. Experts say this could lead to the fast approval of new types of forever chemicals—with limited oversight.

Yes, Tucson and Marana! Who the heck needs Christmas trees, or saguaros, when you can have a data center instead? 🌵We all must make sacrifices for AI and billionaire profits, right Rex Scott @pimacounty-d1.bsky.social?

Now…it’s pretty much screw State's, or anyone else’s, “rights."

Today the ACC decides a TEP/Beale deal that'll drive data center development and affect electric rates all over S.AZ and Tucson. Majority republican ACC members appear poised to move forward w/employees and local Chambers in favor. Like this👇nothing for people or local biz, only $ for TEP & partners
Donald Trump and Republicans gave billionaire corporations a giant tax handout to "incentivize" investments they ALREADY MADE.

As far as I'm aware, they don’t have a time machine.

It's just the latest excuse to throw money at billionaires while Americans struggle to get by.

"Who wants to live like this?” A mass exodus could happen here too, in S.AZ, Tucson, Marana…between the mines, and the data centers that Rex Scott @ Pima County is pushing with no input or safeguards, no one will trust that it is secure to invest or make a future here. Such corruption🚫Desert Data
