I think the fact that Oretagas’s brother is a terrible filmmaker is kind of the point. #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds “What is Starfleet?” is a love letter to post 9/11 vets. Please read this thread to the end. If you disagree, that’s fine. But, damn, that episode saw me and said “we get it.” (1/11)
Ah. Well that's a bit vague, so I'm none the wiser.
It wasn't the worst episode, I just don't think it was particularly well done. I've seen the news documentary trope used to far greater effect elsewhere.

So, I understand that a lot of people don’t like the #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds episode “What is Starfleet?” I get it, but that’s because it wasn’t meant for you. It was meant for me and people like me. Content like that means everything to us, because so few creators even try to get it right:

Always appreciate a little shout out from the magnificent @seanferrick.bsky.social, and if anyone from @archive-x.bsky.social or OTOY wants to make use of the Ossuary for an OTOY enviroment we would be thrilled to see it!

Starfleet’s mental healthcare for its service members is atrocious. It’s so bad, its almost criminally negligent. Ask for help, get help, and if you see someone struggling, even if they deny it, help them. That’s real leadership. It’s that freakin’ simple.

A few months back, one of the best #StarTrek armorers around decided to step back and I had the privelege of purchasing his incredible set of #Klingon armor. I can tell you, his work is the best of the best. This was the final fitting before #STLV 2025 today. You feel POWERFUL wearing this:

“How did you get in here?”
“I am Koloth.”
“That doesn’t answer my question.”
“Yes it does.”

OTD, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's "Blood Oath," which brought back 3 classic Klingons: Michael Ansara as Kang, William Campbell as Koloth, and John Colicos as Kor. They weren't originally in the story, but Robert Hewitt Wolfe, a big TOS fan, came up with the idea to include them.

At the Met yesterday. It’s easy to forget that these beautiful and intricate gusoku (Japanese armor) are actual military uniforms meant to be worn by officers on duty. This 300 year old armor has an INKSTONE and BRUSH on the wrist in the exact same place as the pen pockets on a modern set of OCPs:

The reason you don’t see social media in #StarTrek is that after it was a major cause of World War III in the mid 21st Century, humanity collectively decided to get rid of it. Instead go outside, attend a performance at your favorite bar, grab a great meal at a local restaurant, play with your pets:
