We have been receiving a lot of reports from Edmonton paramedics about increased response times as we continue to struggle with low resource availability. Patient care and paramedic wellness continue to be negatively affected. Recently, an Edmonton paramedic shared two tragic incidents from the same shift that deeply affected them. First, they were dispatched to an elderly patient who had been laying on the floor for 4 hours and was in pain. 911 had been called several times but due to low ambulance resources they kept delaying the ambulance response. Just as they were about to arrive to help this elderly patient, they were redirected to a cardiac arrest on the other side of the city because they were the closest ambulance. They took over 15 minutes to get to the cardiac arrest patient. The elderly patient was left to continue waiting and the cardiac arrest patient experienced a prolonged delay in receiving Advanced Cardiac Life Support care. As a reminder, every second counts in a cardiac arrest. Patient survival is directly correlated to how quickly the patient begins receiving treatment. A 15 minute response is unacceptable in a major city. Getting patients the "Right Care in the Right Place at the Right Time" has become a slogan we hear a lot lately. Unfortunately, we don't see it in practice very much these days.

I've been deeply involved in this issue for almost 6 years now. I know it intimately and I've heard all the arguments. I'm convinced it's a corrupt and crooked deal that will adversely affect our water, economically makes zero sense and is going to leave a billion dollar mess for the taxpayer to clean up once the foreign companies go home. Once the first couple mines go in, it'll expand from there and we'll never be rid of them. This is the goal line stand. We need to stop Grassy Mountain. Do it for Lougheed. We want to greatly exceed the 178,000 signatures we need for this so we can send the government a strong message. For that we're need TONS of canvassers. Go to CoalPetition.ca give us your email and tell 50 friends to do the same. When approved we'll give you info on how to sign the petition, how to get officially signed up as a canvasser and how to donate to help pay for this thing. Feels good to finally have something concrete to say when people ask me how they can help since writing your MLA obviously doesn't help much. Thanks for the massive outpouring of support so far in these early stages. We're gonna kill this thing but we need everyone's help. Now's the time. Do it for Lougheed. www.CoalPetition.ca
