My latest book just went live!!
Did anyone ever actually ask for Disney live-action remakes? I mean, IS there actually any demand for them or is it just a cash-grab?

The new Røry single is arguably her best to date. Both the song and the video are absolutely faultless as always.

One of my #37club besties said today to me “how do you not know you’re neurodivergent?” And you know what? Never felt more seen, like she just validated everything I’ve ever suspected and like she was surprised I didn’t know.
Which is exactly why this bunch that I only met in March are my ppl.

In love with this cover - gives off very spooky vibes!
Thanks for the chat, Mary! Loved the theming.

A trailer I made for my latest release…

#HorrorWritersChat!
Most of my male characters are afraid of not being in control, so go to extra effort to reassert control over the situations they find themselves in, often making things even worse.
Whereas the female characters are often more rational
Q4 is up. Ten minutes to outro and the promo: I am still working my way through. You're all wonderful busy bees today and I adore you!
This one is a little easier. No archetypes!

#HorrorWritersChat!
My male characters often mistakenly think they’re the superior gender, when a lot of times it turns out the women are the mentally stronger. Because of all the extra shit they have to deal with that men take for granted. Like being able to walk safely alone at night without fear
Q3. I'm doing what I can to answer everyone, and repost, so bear with me. So I don't keep you waiting, I'll throw out 3. Interpret this one how you like. I know many queer folks like me do not align masculinity with man shaped. And with horror, we love to subvert our tales.

Because my male characters so often want to do the right thing, they are almost always easily manipulated; blinded by their own hubris.
One of my ongoing themes I explore a lot in my work is how man is often ultimately more of a threat than any monster they help create.
Well then, #HorrorWritersChat. What's an archetype anyway? I jest. We're all writers here... after alllllllll....

Mark Woods,uk horror writer, and the one quality that defines all my male characters is determination. Determination to do what they think is the right thing, even if that determination is often misguided.
Ultimately it’s what damns us all - no-one ever thinks they’re the bad guy
Here we go, #HorrorWritersChat!

Q1 has arrived. It's international men's day today, and I thought actually that's a good topic. Not the easiest one to build questions around, either. So if I do not hit the mark I am sure you will forgive me.
As usual, no links, no pitches, not till the end.

#vss365 You’ve always got #options. Even when life feels hopeless and you feel like there’s only one way out, it doesn’t need to be. There’s always a choice. You just need to have hope. That tomorrow will be better. You don’t know what tomorrow will bring and if you choose to go, you never will.

Meeting my #37club besties (well, a few of them) for secret Santa.
#XmasStarWarsjumper is appropriate attire, right?

My wife is watching #imacelebrity and it’s ironic, Ruby Wax has had so much work done her face now looks like it’s melted wax.

Their #goal was to travel to the far reaches of the universe and converse with alien civilisations, unfortunately the aliens were not so keen and destroyed their ship the moment it first entered orbit.
“Bloody humans,” said one alien.
“Parasites,” said the other, and the first alien nodded.

Getting ready for #Download2026 listening to some of the bands I’ve not heard of, while making a playlist for Mrs.Sparky. why have none of you guys ever told me about ANKOR?
They’re bloody brilliant, give off real Lake Malice vibes, and definitely now topping my list of bands I want to try and see!

(1/2) People have asked me which of these two books they should read first.
Honestly, it doesn’t really matter.
The Tape house chronologically came first, and acts as a prequel, but One Halloween Night was finished and released first last year as part of my Holiday Horror series.

*Realises he’s been neglecting Bluesky lately because…you know, author stuff*

Moves to rectify that situation

I don’t know why I never hear more people taking about #slowhorses on Apple TV.

Do people just not have Apple?

Do they not realise just how good Gary Oldman is in that role?

My latest book just went live!

A small group of teens enter an old abandoned house in the woods called The Tape house, but how many of them will come out?

Well my next book will be The Tape House - my version of the VHS movies where teenagers, trapped in an abandoned house, find themselves watching old videotapes with their names on while trying to escape. Spoiler: the house doesn’t want them to leave…
So that's it for our questions, I'll be replying to everyone coming behind, please also do the same, it's great for the writers to see us interacting.
And what pans do you have in the fire? Got something to promote? Here's your chance.
Thanks for pitching in, you guys make this night a real success.

I try to construct some kind of weapon from things in my room, then wait for whatever to come for me - as I’ve obviously lived through but forgotten whatever’s coming for me from the night before and I’m not going down without a fight.
#HorrorWritersChat

Obviously I never intend to be stranded in a foreign country. I've been in enough places I can probably handle most things! But what about you, horror bods?

Willow Creek and Wolf Creek are 2 of my favourite movies so I’d probably say camping, or travelling the outback. In either scenario, you’re trapped out in the open, miles from anywhere, nowhere to run to if things go pear shaped. And probably with no phone signal too! I’m so dead.
Well then come on let us have it. We all saw Hostel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and gods knows what else. What would you not survive eh?
Not that I'm planning to take notes or anything of course.

No animals. No cats, no dogs, no people - or at least, none after dark. Windows all boarded up, missing person posters, and the announcement of a curfew in place and a warning not to open the door to ANYONE after dark.
Well, we're rocking now, eh, like we're gathering at a Eurovision contest! The timing was entirely undeliberate. As the best things usually are.
So #HorrorWritersChat bods, what would you notice first? Hmm?
Yes there's a theme this week. Clever me huh?
