Weird cars, planes, space, Appalachia, France, Formula 1, Pokémon, Craig Ferguson interviews.
Had a dream last night that Adrian Newey had somehow found a loophole in the regulations that allowed Aston Martin to mount an A400M-style propfan to the top of the car's airbox. 😮 #F1

New specs.

I'm going to have the progressive taken out of the lenses though; it's annoying and I only really need it a small fraction of the time (so far). 😕

Do the iPhone "moving" pictures kind of freak anyone else out?

They exist in this not-a-still/not-a-video uncanny valley, and they remind me of the key (brilliant yet unnerving) moment from La Jetée, one of my favorite sci-fi films:

Got some new specs yesterday with progressive lenses (because I am Old™) and everything is still swimmy today. Hoping this gets better.

No pics, but I finally installed the last piece of my audio system—the steering wheel button interface jumper harness—today, and it sounds fantastic.

The audio shop set the headunit EQ to flat and set the gains and crossover points on the amp, and I've been fine-tuning via the headunit all week. 🤘

Lint mysteriously shows up in our belly buttons every day.

Somehow we just accept this, like Windows' Blue Screen of Death.

Y'know, if they made shopping carts' plastic child seat belt buckles 1/4" narrower, the carts would NEVER bind up when being pulled apart. 🤔

QOTD: Have you ever bought or not bought a car solely/primarily because of its color?

Matt's "get off my lawn" statement of the day: I hate the word "vibe," especially when used as a verb, as it seems to be all the time nowadays. 👎

Sobering critique of fine arts education. My daughter is encountering this in real time. Students need to be taught the tools and techniques of the craft; instead, they're being left to their own devices and exploration far too early in the process.

My dad got me a gift subscription for my birthday. I love magazines, but it's sad what they've become. 58 thin pages.

Having my new system tuned by a local audio shop. I hate having anyone else work on my car, but I didn't have the equipment (oscilloscope, etc) and didn't trust myself to do it by ear.

This is their "test music." I'm not objecting.

I design retail displays for a living. I'm relatively new to my company and just learned today that we sell a line of units named "High Q," so I composed this:

These fixtures are great
Simply the best to hold stuff
Buy them already

I feel like I earned my keep today. 👍

Always thought it was a funny convention of English that we don't use "tens" to denote some unknown number, e.g. "Tens of people showed up to the lecture."

We'll use "hundreds," "thousands," or "millions," but for smaller denominations we default to "dozens" or more poetically, "scores."
