Weird cars, planes, space, Appalachia, France, Formula 1, Pokémon, Craig Ferguson interviews.
Between this and Doug's video this week, the "strange new respect" for the 996 continues to gain momentum... 😁

How's the ZX2 of that generation? Any better? Always thought they were neat looking little coupes.

I would happily daily a 2nd gen TL Type-S with a 6-speed.

This period was Acura's styling high-water mark, IMO.

We got that gen over here as the Acura TSX. Lovely car, especially the facelift with the way the foglights are integrated into the bumper.

Nice Toyota spot! 😉

What separates the goods like Lando from the greats like Max, etc, is the ability to "make their own race" (as opposed to just dominating from the front). Haven't seen that from Lando (yet?).

They call that one "Taco Bell." 😜

Weirdly, the one I *do* own makes me feel uncomfortable to be seen in. It just attracts a LOT of attention at stoplights and gas stations and such. I know that sounds horribly ungrateful, but there it is. 🤷‍♂️

Whoa! That's a unique design. I'd love to see those fitted to a car (though I can't imagine what they'd "go" with).
December 8, 2025 at 6:26 PM
I would have been more impressed if it were the other way around. 😜

I put 25mm spacers on my MX-6 when I installed the Miata wheels, but they have a crazy high offset (ET55) and it was just to recenter things. I certainly wouldn't go nuts like on that 964—and it looks like the wheels are STILL tucked. 😬
December 8, 2025 at 3:24 PM
For me, nothing's yet been able to top this one.
December 8, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Not so much the size as the style (Miata wheels are ET55).

Y'know, I thought those wheels looked kind of familiar; I think I remember them being fitted to the Alcyone SVX in the early Gran Turismo games. No wonder they look right: The factory picked them. 👍

It really is. I'm from there originally, and angling to move back in the next couple of years, and hopefully retire to the mountains. It's hard to beat for beauty, this side of the Mississippi.

Looking down on a sea of fog for miles and miles back into North Carolina, as I drove up I77 into Virginia.

Little point in watching it anyway... 😕
December 7, 2025 at 3:38 PM
This is gold. 😂
December 7, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Car photo of the year? Just...wow. 🤩

SVXs are 1) a bucket-list car to own for me, and 2) notoriously hard to match aftermarket wheels to. Those basketweaves look smart though. 👍
December 7, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Yeah the most that can be said about it is "It doesn't suck quite as much as it used to."
December 7, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Same. I have a hunch many agree with us.
December 7, 2025 at 3:36 AM
Yes indeed. Such a fine line between stunning and hideous. The S3 OTS sits right on the knife edge, but the 2+2 tips over completely into breathtakingly ugly. The windshield rake, the distended profile, the nasty-looking "saucer" wheels... 🤢 Besides hideous, it just looks cheap—which is maybe worse.
