Greetings. I'm a 30+ year veteran of the games industry. I've made Lots of my own original IP like TY the Tasmanian Tiger and Blade Kitten. As well as directing some smaller lesser known IP like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed :D

I like to design characters and make comics in my "spare" time.

Slowly building things up.
Trust the process.

Today I painted some rocks and tree layer elements, as well as coloring in the boat layers.

Finally getting around to updating my website after too many years. Moving over to WordPress since Adobe dropped Muse (which wasn't perfect but did the job). Spent all night just messing around with getting all the plugins up to date and working.

I hate it, but at least I can actually start now.
Yep, that one's going to rocket up the charts and remain at number 1 like an iceberg, cos it's such a gem.
At this point, it feels like you've just given up trying...
🥱
Made a sandwich for lunch and actually remembered that I had some lettuce instead of forgetting and throwing it on on rubbish day.
I mean, he'd already died and comback one time, two would be an extravagance!
It's already at that point inthe year where I start my day before 6:30 to take Mickey for a walk before it gets too hot. When Summer hits full on we'll be out just after dawn. I really should head down to the park early one day to maybe see the wallabies.
Summer is never over... There is only a little less Summer.
Took a break from the detailed background stuff today to take yet another crack at the interiors. Previous version was isometric and just felt very technical drawing vs the more cosy feel I was after. Experimenting with some simple 3D shapes and sprite stacks. I like the new feel, so far.

WIP line art for a new room for Gunwale. I'm trying to make sure that each location has lots of detail for you to look at since that's a pretty major point of the game.

I actually can't wait to color the layers and put them in the engine to see them in parallax.

That's the best bit.

My weekend of Gunwale boating lineart.
When we wrapped on Fortress back in '91, I was talking to Simon, the Art Director about his next gig. He was thinking of maybe taking the job on Super Mario Bros next. And he did.

I saw the Goombas at CES in 93, and they were very big and intimidating in real life.
That makes two of us!

There's a little bit of rough planning at the start, then I just let my hand do what it thinks is right. Being digital means I can change things on the fly pretty easily.

But yeah, I point the art in a direction then let it go.

Thankfully, that storm was a bit of a non-event. Mickey was getting anxious with that early non-stop thunder but I gave him a treat and that distracted him enough to calm down.
First big storm of the season on the way. The rolling thunder has been going on nonstop for about 10 mins and it's still ages away. (I'm about 1/2 way between Sunnybank and Logan)

Gotta love living in the sub-tropics.

I don't know about using the bsky login but I was recently looking at a plugin for Wordpress to do a forum/board.

I also miss the old ezyboard forums of the early 2000s.
And let's not forget that it was quicker for Scotty to just use the keyboard 😊
