What's something that isn't considered embarrassing but you think it should be?

Well, another day of life awaits tomorrow and I'm sure to piss it up the wall somehow.

Goodnight everyone.

...and it feels a bit strange because everything's come crashing back in, but it's still the best place to get a brew?

Early night because there's nothing to stay up for and a good book waits.

Goodnight from the production line at the W&W Biscuit factory at Hook, where all the gossip is about Elsie Bow being outed as a witch in the News of the World. Goodnight from Ged Walms. nursing a headful of terrors after walking through Mantel Woods. Goodnight from Hookland.

It's years since I've been near. I imagine it's changed an awful lot.

If Albert Camus and George Orwell had met in a pub, there'd been one hell of a fight in the car park.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

The veneration of Books As Objects misses the point entirely. If you're reading a book, turn the corners down, break the spine, spill soup on it. It's your book, go nuts. A pristine, unread book is a tragedy in a way that a beloved, much-read book that looks like the dog's been at it could never be.

Whitley Bay! I've just twigged. There used to be something similar up the promenade on the way to St Mary's Lighthouse. I loved it there as a kid. Felt like a miniature world.

I'm a very good, in fact I'd say accomplished liar. It's a universal skill in this modern life. But I only use it for good. I don't like to be duplicitous or manipulative.

Lying is much easier if you spend most of your time being scrupulously honest.

Call it a recurrence, then. 'I thought I was ok, but its come back again'. Also not wanting to spread it is a very good thing to say if you can carry it off.

It's a couple of months since I had a sick day, but I have far fewer now I work from home, because opening your laptop is preferable to having to drag your arse to actual work and put up with the same people having the same conversation all the time.

Yesterday in signs:

A local field for local people.

Autumn colours in leaf and stock car metal.
A sign on the fence of a field
       !
CAUTION
Farm Livestock
with their young

Just out of focus in the background - a single sheep staring at me. Corner of a road. A triangular sign alerts any passing motorist that:

BANGER RACING
HOT RODS ETC.
TODAY SUNDAY in
HENHAM
STANSTED RACEWAY

In the background, in a hollow of autumn shaded trees, a pink and blue beaten up car is being taken away on the back of a truck - like a prize striker being stretchered off after a fierce tackle.
