My province is talking about removing all rent protections. Partner and I might be homeless in a few months.

It is nearly impossible to find reasons to keep creating when so much of my future is uncertain

I will keep trying. I will keep making. But I don't have a ton of hope.

Extremely rough week without much progress. But here's Flea, being the chillest little pancake.

bit late for #PortfolioDay, but im an amateur indiegamedev that works on pixelart sidescroller adventure games.

My games are playable for free and feature plenty of big bosses to fight and strange worlds to explore.
Thanks! I'm working on converting pre-made positioning animations into navigation code to make it more flexible.

And so that enemies and characters can actually walk up to each other when they attack, which will be really neat.

I think I know what my next game about mental health is going to be. DO THE THING worked so well.

Details are being sketched out, but it will be called SCHOOLING.

I feel like enough people have played Silksong at this point I can say the game got genuine laughter out of me after beating the Judge.

No idea if intentional if "actually, there are FIVE bells of -" was a DS1 riff, but I did get an extra laugh with Hornet's "Those? Did them on the way." reply.

Feels like it's been quite a while since I uploaded anything outside of menus. But I revisited the combat to clean it up a bit more, and it's certainly coming along.

For anyone interested, I've set up an account on Mastodon: @[email protected]

I will be doing my best to keep both accounts updated until/unless this site implodes.

The monumentum demo got a fresh coat of paint just in time for next fest next week. If you were feelin' a bit defeated on your first try, you may find it a bit more forgiving now ;) #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #screenshotsaturday #pixelart
They really are! They were the inspiration for my name and logo, after all.
Took another code break, this time to play around with a title screen idea. This is for The Megastructure, the 2.5 Chrono Trigger/Golden Sun inspired game I'm currently prototyping systems for.

It's @[email protected]! snoozingrat isn't a name I find already taken very much, which is nice.
I realized I was wrong when I finally noticed the "Other servers" feed.
So, much like here. Good to know I was, indeed, overthinking. I appreciate the starter pack link! That will help.

For some reason I assumed the search and feeds were limited my home instance + anyone I followed, so had no idea how I was supposed to *find* people outside my instance.
Been expanding to Mastodon and I'm a bit lost. Not really sure how to find people to follow, especially if some people are on other instances.

It seems relatively similar to here in terms of actual post size and content?

I am bad at social media and overanalyze social expectations & etiquette.
Orthogonal cameras didn't play nice with the SpringArm though, so I had to engineer my own solution. The camera itself would move, but the view wouldn't change.

So I had to "fake" that zoom by shrinking the size of the camera, depending on the camera's position along the Arm.
Been upgrading my camera code a bit. Now I've got this smooth transition between open spaces and narrow corridors.

Also testing out Godot's geometry tools and using distance fade material properties to hide the room's external faces if the player is in or near.

Maybe it's time I give Nine Sols a proper go.
