Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

As I see more middle-of-the-road Dems process the tragedy that befell Alex Pretti, I see them processing grief by trying to differentiate ICE from Police. To claim that their actions are qualitatively different, somehow.

And I wonder on what planet they've been living.
CN: School shooting.

In 2019, Trystan Andrew Terrell came to a UNCC classroom with a pistol and began shooting indiscriminately.

A friend of a friend, Riley Howell, charged him. He tackled Terrell to the ground, shouting at the other students to run. His last words were "Go, Go, Go."
armed people who move quickly and are willing to die get stopped every single day. By people wielding chairs, knives, guns or their own fists.

this is not a gun control argument. but regular people do stop armed assailants daily. those stories just aren't newsworthy in part bc less people die.

I'm not someone who enjoys hating movies. Like it's one thing to get baked with some friends and laugh and Madame Web. But I don't get anything out of "being a hater" the way some folks on here do

Return to Silent Hill is a train wreck. A pointless, miserable, baffling misfire for no reason

There is no "Trump's" ICE

It has always been an evil organization of racist violence. It was evil under Biden, and Obama, and Bush. You can't reform it or redeem it because it was built to do this. No amount of "training" will fix it, and refusing to acknowledge that is why we're here now
It's time to abolish Trump’s ICE.

Nintendo made some truly bizarre decisions with how the N64 controls map to the Switch. Just confusingly bad. Even with the new remapping options I still can't get GoldenEye or Perfect Dark to handle correctly

So finally I just got the N64 controller and thank fuck they're actually playable now

I'm fascinated by how often I see people tell game devs "Please for the love of god do anything other than play games" vs how often I see directors/actors/film critics/etc praised for saying "I eat, breath, and bleed film. I live in a movie theater"

Don't really have A Take, it's just interesting
The author of the novels that inspired Shin Megami Tensei and Persona says developers should take more inspiration from other media to invent new gameplay systems.

If they only take inspiration from games they'll just make the same games, he says.

Begging people to stop using the framing of "a new policy that lets agents enter your home" because the policy is illegal. It doesn't "let" them do that because it doesn't have the authority to let them do that.

It's institutionalized unconstitutionality; an intentional erosion of existing rights.
Learn more about why ICE’s new policy that lets agents enter your home without a judicial warrant is dead wrong. joycevance.substack.com/p/breaking-t...

Had a lot of fun with the first mission of Thief VR

I knew the reboot is contentious for some fans but I enjoy it for what it is. It was always very *tactile*, and VR seems to be building on those strengths really well. "Open all the drawers and take all the things" is just so satisfying

This should be boosted regardless if you're anywhere near Minnesota. Since organizing general strikes is something that should already be on the minds of Americans across the entire country, might as well talk about and support any where they may be popping up.
A major coalition is launching a general strike in Minnesota tomorrow, aimed at pushing out ICE.

It includes:

-Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005
-The MN AFL-CIO
-SEIU Local 26
-UNITE HERE Local 17
-CWA Local 7250
-Saint Paul and Minneapolis Federations of Educators
-Faith leaders

And more. 🧵

I have a hard time imagining being able to share a civil society with anyone who disagrees with this?

"Is there any circumstance where the appropriate response to a five year old is an armed federal agent arresting them?" Is pretty close to my version of a Voight-Kampff test.
I guess I do think if you participated in the arrest of a five-year-old you are probably just fundamentally incompatible with society. That you are not a safe person for humanity to be around, generally

"Protecting the galaxy means hunting down the remaining Jedi - not blowing up planets.

That's why I'm proposing a bill that redirects 75 billion away from building the Death Star and towards the training of new Stormtroopers."
Public safety means stopping violent crime — not weaponizing ICE against our communities.

That’s why I'm proposing a bill that redirects nearly $75 billion from ICE to local law enforcement.

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."
