There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

So

The boulder in RE5 is thematically both the end point of Chris’ character arc as well as a representation of the player overcoming their fears and defeating the Evil in Resident Evil. It’s arguably one of the most thematically poignant moment in RE5 — yes really. 🧵1/13

Really excellent list here. Since I haven't seen it show up in the replies yet I have to shout out Metal Garden. Beautiful little shooter, easily one of my favorite releases this year across the board

"an absolute no-no" okay I thought I was using hyperbole in discussing how people talk about this stuff but fuck me. Every time an intentionally disturbing creative decision raises controversy, it's like "wuh oh. :/ I guess they didn't realize how this looks to Normal People. Whoopsie-doodle."
i know you’re not supposed to read the conversation in the comments but the conversation is depressing and anti-art in all the typical ways to justify censorship… like there’s so much to unpack here especially with how quickly people paint art as “abuse” when it discusses difficult topics.

I'm kinda surprised they actually responded to this but completely unsurprised that it's a bullshit non-answer that doesn't really explain or change anything

Ok this is rad. I don't think I've ever seen this one before
📖 Bytes of Game Ads 📺

Now this... now this is one helluva clever billboard ad for the original release of Alan Wake on Xbox 360 in May 2010.

Top marks for whoever came up with it.

seeing people being like "ehhh Idkkkkk horses DOES sound kinda icky, I get why it was banned" like barely 2 months after a bunch of people kicked up the wildest possible hostile campagn against _itch_ makes me feel like I'm losing my mind lol

“But like I told Jo, if a little harmless chatter during what you thought was time to yourself is enough to destroy a decades-old gaming franchise, I can assure you that said franchise is weaker than our eight-month relationship.”

Ok but this for real
Backlash surrounding Metroid Prime 4’s chatty supporting cast has inadvertently bled into one gamer’s relationship.

In The Labyrinth of Time, entering the Ziggurat without a lantern is supposed to show a black screen. However, the developers put in the wrong filename for the black screen, so it fails to render, showing a black screen instead

There is a real conversation to be had about letting this much of the PC and indie space be dominated by a single company. Especially one this notoriously inconsistent and uncommunicative

Like, this sure sounds like a monopoly to me. That's not great no matter who's holding the reins

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Not sure I can even put my finger on what it is exactly but I started it last night and oof, actual physical chills. Incredible stuff

Everyone's all "I hate sand" this and "Somehow Palpatine returned" that, but the real king of unintentionally funny Star Wars lines is "A death mark's not an easy thing to live with"

Like, really? No shot? Never would have guessed

When I started tracking games on Backloggd, I didn't want it to be about *competing* with myself. The goal is finishing games to engage with work I enjoy, not to Make Number Go Up and hit some imaginary high score

Buuut since it's so close, I kinda wanna see if I can hit 50 before the year ends 😁

Metroid Prime 3 replay finished!

Haven't played through it since it first came out. Incredible conclusion to the phazon saga. And the first time I've gotten 100% in any of the Primes

Might try to clear Hunters before Beyond drops just for the fun of it, but replaying the main trilogy was the goal

Setting aside everything else about the TGAs for a second, it's so fucking dumb to host a Best of the Year show before the year is actually over. Making folks hope their games get remembered next year just so you can get your holiday season ads in is a dick move

We lost a legend.

But for her family, the gofundme is still up.
Burger Becky’s gofundme for cancer treatment is now for a funeral service.

To my knowledge we’ve not yet lost her, but she has announced that her doctors have informed her there is nothing more that can be done
I’ve started a GoFundMe to help with my cancer battle gofund.me/6850175a3
