ALICIA CORDISCO - The Burden of I (Review)

If I know one thing about metal music, it is this: @allieinchains.bsky.social executes.

Alicia Cordisco - The Burden of I. A dark environment with cracks of light cutting through the murk. A small building with the lights on sits on the left side.

"Apple is good, actually" was inevitable, but you hate to see it nonethless

I recently saw Amazon and Apple Music listed as "ethical alternatives to Spotify" and uhhh what?

Update: making meaningful change here at the Listening to Good Music Factory is proving difficult, but I love a challenge. Hopeful that I'll be able to curry a little favor with my supervisor if my team applies themselves and puts up some big numbers this quarter.

I got the promotion! I hope my new position in middle management will allow me to make some meaningful changes here at the Listening to Good Music factory.

NEW REVIEW!

My thoughts on the new An Abstract Illusion album are extensive, but I can summarize them as: The Sleeping City is another masterpiece. What a wonderful fucking album.

Like the amount of laundry simply does not correspond to the amount of clothing we collectively wear

I feel the same about my family of 2

"Catastrophic melodic funeral death doom" sounds like a siren song specifically designed to lure me to crash my ship on treacherous rocks

Shoutout to Saxophone Metal, a certifiably GOATed genre

Thinking about the why is definitely the key. Consumption without intent is hollow, etc. etc.

Honestly, seeing this post and differing takes has just reaffirmed how integral music-listening is in my daily existence. Living with an album of repeat until it becomes the soundtrack to a specific era is great. Spending a day listening to 12 new albums without attachment is great. Its all great.

Well said. Truly living with an album is one of life's great joys.

I like this one a lot.

Cover of Unsouling's album Outward Streams Of Devotional Woe. A face with dried skin and the nose removed surrounded by a menagerie of little demons.

I know some of you are illogically allergic to metal that has well crafted catchiness combined with potent emotional resonance, but Bergfried has apparently decided to come out and just fucking nail this difficult balance. Goddamn banger

Driven by an embracing of nostalgia, a love of Tolkien, and childhood memories of '90s video games, Aetherfrost Caverns by @gonemage.bsky.social and @lammoth.bsky.social delivers a truly distinctive take on symphonic black metal.

Deliberately slipping albums I dislike into occasion rotation so that the albums I like sound even better by comparison.

100% chance it would be a certified banger
