Headteacher of the primary school I went to when I was little. Worked here for over 20 years and still love it. We were evacuated 16/01/23. Can’t wait to be back together as one school. Also love books.

I believe it’s good to stretch avid readers, but it’s even more important to ensure that ALL children leave school as readers. Every adult should have fond memories of books they discovered at school.

I was late to the social media party.
This yr I joined Bluesky and Substack looking for expert advice and best bets. An act of desperation tbh when my school was evacuated.
I don’t know about the twitter glory days, they passed me by, but I am thankful for the generous educators who post on here.
I am very much enjoying Bluesky for news and analysis. But where has the education chat gone? I really miss this from Twitter days...where do you think Edu-chat is best represented now?

Enjoyed every minute of this informative conference today.

Great conversations and even better company.

Really lovely spending time with governors from all across the Diocese of Lancaster.

When did this happen??? My child is at a gig whilst I’m in my pjs with a share bag of crisps.
The tables have definitely turned.

I really enjoyed spending time with St George’s School this afternoon.
Vital we get the children’s voices about what they want for their community.

What does a 60-hour working week do to a teacher's brain?

My baby is 16 tomorrow. He’s had a little bit of a rough ride with his health from day dot. A nasty injury in July has meant no sport, Alder Hey, missing school in year 11. So grateful to the teachers supporting him through this tricky time.
Not sure you can measure that but means the world to me.

This is great 👍
I’ve written my first post on Substack. It’s about ‘meeting the needs of pupils with SEND’.

Sometimes our teaching assistants need to take a more creative approach to help our children grasp the content.

What would we do without our wonderful TAs 💗

Yesterday was my great uncle’s funeral. The last surviving sibling. A final farewell to him but also to that entire generation.
My great grandad arrived on a boat destined for America but he ended up here in England. So special listening to family share stories from the past.

I am super lucky to work with a staff team that prioritises finding opportunities to build a positive and supportive working environment.

Staff meeting cancelled. Walk optional. Some even used it as a way to squeeze in an extra weekday run with their work mates.
Love planning wellbeing walks for staff complete with cute coffees!

Has anyone had any good ideas/events for staff wellbeing?

I’m certainly in good company with my fellow finalists.

Anoushka teaches English at St Bernard’s High School. She really is a wonderful teacher who always goes the extra mile 💗

Last year we worked with the high school to make a video in support. It’s too long for on here but here’s a little clip.
The one good thing to come from our evacuation is that we get to work more closely with the children and staff of St Bernard’s High School.

Also grateful to Waterpark ran by the Eric Wright Trust for their amazing charity work and huge subsidised prices they can offer us!
So vital our children can go on these trips for amazing learning outside the classroom!

Huge thanks to our staff on Y4 and 5 residential especially EVC @a-mymaguire.bsky.social
They were “on” 24/7 for a week so our pupils could try new things, develop skills eg independence, resilience, prob solving. Because of our amazing colleagues the kids have made memories they will never forget.
My favourite school week of the year! Always a pleasure taking the children to Waterpark at Coniston!
The growth we see in the children in 5 days is amazing! Lots of ‘I can’t do that’ to ‘wow look at me Miss’ 😍
Always thankful to our amazing team who give up their week for our wonderful pupils ❤️
