Renault is set to launch its Dutch AC bidirectional charging package in collaboration with We Drive Solar and Hegg Energy in the first half of 2026. This will be the first commercialised V2G bundle in the Netherlands.

The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

Australia has one of the higher (80%+) uptakes. UK latest cohorts coming in the 70%s (was 90% in earlier years). US lower - 60s%.

As people age, we can expect divergence in cervical cancer rates to continue - a chance for elimination in Australia, vs still a significant cause of death for US women.

Utterly surreal that a key part of the pre Budget narrative from the government hasn’t been ‘Russian planes keep buzzing the Essex coast, US support for NATO is looking shaky, and thanks to the Tories our army fits in Old Trafford - that’s why we need to raise taxes’.

Disappointing
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

First time the battery has run out before the start of the 2330-0530 off peak period. Have to choose to charge with the solar now to avoid 29p/unit import later in the evening, but lose out on export at 15p/unit.

PS - spot the ASHP defrost cycling like mad in the am!

I mean, if you have a medical emergency in the next month or so, you have a good change of an ambulance arriving in a reasonable time.

This has just not been the case in most of the UK for several winters now, and will make an enormous difference to a lot of people.

10 years ago hydrogen buses were hyped and many cities ordered them.

Today the picture is clear: electric buses rule, hydrogen buses whither.

Europe's electricity system is changing rapidly and often in places that don't make the headlines.

Look at Estonia - not that long ago and fossil fuels dominated around 90% of electricity generation.

Today solar and wind eat more and more into the share of fossil fuel-generated electricity.

Spot the solar output from yesterday! 🔬 😂

0.24kWh. My max in summer is 70kWh. This is why I bristle slightly when I hear people say PV still works when it’s cloudy. Well it’s not zero, but it’s not very useful either.

Still, the battery saw us through pretty well

This is such a lovely tribute to Quentin Willson. Real measure of the man stuff. The air is cleaner, emissions are lower, and the journey towards a cleaner and healthier world is more advanced than it would have been because of the work he put in.

Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

A real loss. His credibility with the motor industry was hugely beneficial to the transition. Irreplaceable.

Rest in peace Quentin.
He was a passionate voice for motoring and consumer rights. Quentin dedicated his life to sharing his love for cars and helping people understand them, from classic combustion to modern electric. His kindness, intelligence, wit, and warmth will always be missed. Rest in peace, Q we love you.

On my dog walk I often chat with right wingers. I pretend I am an ex-Reform voter put off by the utter fuck up of our county council. Then they see me as one of their own, don't get defensive and shouty, and start to question their own opinion of Reform. Honey, not vinegar.

Europe’s gas prices are still far above the U.S.

Sept 2025: $11.1 vs $3.0 per MMBtu — nearly 4× higher.

Even before the crisis, Europe paid more.

The only lasting fix? Less gas, more renewable energy, more efficiency and more clean electrification. ⚡️
