I feel as though I ate all of Houston during our @texasstandard.bsky.social roadtrip. Yeah, we brought home a pie from House of Pies. What’s it to ya?

Criterion Channel has re-added the Pioneers of African American Cinema collection.

16 features + 13 shorts/fragments curated by Charles Musser and Jacqueline Stewart.

Oscar Micheaux's BODY AND SOUL (1925) w/ Paul Robeson + a haunting original score by DJ Spooky is a good place to start. #FilmSky

We’ve recently lost the iconic Diane Keaton. Agents of SMOOCH wanted to do a special mission to honour her. We chose The First Wives Club with Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and some amazing power suits.

Hello, Houston! Your @texasstandard.bsky.social pals want to know:

What's the most exciting thing about Houston food right now?

Great places, trends under- or overrated places.

Send us a voice memo:

And you might hear yourself on the air tomorrow, when we'll be in HTX.

When I pack for a work trip, I do so as if there will be barely any modern conveniences. Because a city larger than my own will surely not have Internet or AC power in its air conditioned buildings! And I better bring snacks, just in case food is unavailable.

Digging my new LG TV’s accessibility features. Speech is on by default when you set up for the first time, and the default color contrast is great! Speech is a little fast to start, but that can be sorted out. #A11Y

Here’s a good reminder of the history of special education in the US. And a reminder for me why I was able to go to a public high school.

Also a pretty good suggestion for anyone using GIFs.
One way sighted people can determine what to put in alt text: Imagine you sent the post or article to a friend, and the image didn't load. What would someone need to know to get the equivalent experience and context? This will help you identify the important details.
