Ruby-tailed Wasp Chrysis ignita agg
For once, one of them remained stationary to allow a photo.

A vigorous 'HUZZAH!' from time to time is also quite satisfying.

NGL, when my nephew was a teen, he only spoke in American-accented fucking quotes from the internet like 'FINISH HIM!' etc. etc. Not able to speak like a regular Aussie kid, b/c he was raised by a TV screen, then a gaming PC while his mum did nowt. He sleeps all day, games all night. No job. He's 26

Colour pencil and gouache portrait of a thylacine (Tasmanian tiger). The drawing is life size. The thylacine is stood on a rock surveying her environment. Her coat shines a glossy mix of texture and colour. Colour portrait of an agile wallaby. Using coloured pencil and gouache. The wallaby is sat in an open forest setting. The wallaby looks directly at you and is sat alert. Black and white graphite pencil and charcoal drawing of a thylacine. The thylacine is looking to the left. The mixture of graphite and charcoal create soft and gestural textures. Oak gall ink was used to create the eye. Sketch page drawn at Kendal depicting various historical taxidermy pieces. These include a thylacine and the extinct huia birds. The huia take up the centre of the image, I’ve used a mixture of charcoal and graphite to add depth.

To keep my carbon footprint down, save money and keep miles off the car, I give my work ID badge to a friend who swipes into the office for me, and I work from home. Dumb office policy.

I wish this were satire, but...

A serial offender always asking for #donations of people's effort & time, none of it paid. I get the whole charity deal, but I resent the hell out of these people with paid jobs asking others to 'volunteer'/work for nothing. It stinks.
Your effort makes profit for someone else, #charity or not.

Anyone familiar with the Mel Brooks movie 'Spaceballs' should also get a giggle out of this. The 'Schwartz' reference is just the icing on the cake to the 'five inches of danger'!
Just me, then?

The Cedar Beetle
This incredible macro photograph captures the intricate details of a Cedar Beetle's long, feathery antennae used to find food and mates.

It's time to end this grotesque exploitation of animals. Greyhound racing too.

SAME. Two days now, still there.

Argh, that's gotta be frustrating as hell! Glad you have good days though; the exercise really helps according to the latest findings. Go well, Travis and Sigi! XO

Happy #Invertober day 14!

Bobbit or sand striker worm (Eunice aphroditois)

This one was a bit terrifying-looking, so I went in a more abstract direction 😂

#Invertober2025
Drawing in white ink against a dull blue background of the head and upper body of a worm with spiky protrusions on head and sides. It is drawn in an almost abstract style to emphasize shape and pattern rather than being strictly realistic.

Ohhhhh...! I totally didn't get that, so thank you for the explanation! :) Now it makes perfect sense when viewing the video! Poor fish though!

I love the Wavy Mucksucker (Orthonevra nitida)!

Am reading Tammy Wynette's autobiography 'Stand By Your Man' and it's so engaging, I read until 1am last night. More than halfway through it now, and her simple style is both honest, homely and sometimes downright amusing.

Thanks to whomever put it on the free library rack at the shopping centre.

50 years ago now, and back then, opposite my house 'was all fields' full of horses.

People really into AI have to try really hard to convince other people that the products of AI look good and that it's also not obvious it's AI generated. Which those people fail at doing, because, they can't. It's always obvious. It always looks bad.

Don't support 'animal rescues' that cherry-pick what breeds they'll accept, taking only minis they can rehome for an exorbitant adoption fee just short of $2000. An annoyed commenter said it best. All the vetwork, vax, meds etc. are not going to cost HALF of this demanded 'adoption' fee. >:(
