Australia just recorded zero cervical cancer cases in women under 25 for the first time since records began in 1982. The amazing result of HPV vaccination.

Has she ever been to a church? And if so did she listen to anything that was said?

I am a bit rusty from my younger days attending, but Jesus Christ was a bloody socialist. The only thing unchristian is to hold contempt for the poor and those in need.

Another fantastic piece. Scotland needs an equivalent to Northern Ireland - a legal and democratic route to constitutional change.

Somewhat related, my graphic design advice is that unless the image is a key point of your presentation, like it’s actually something you need to show people to get the point of your slide across, then don’t use one. Slides need to be functional, not overcrowded and “cute”.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Springer-Nature statement

“Whilst the details of peer review are confidential, we can confirm that the article underwent two rounds of review from two independent peer reviewers, supporting an accept decision.”

How am I now expected to believe that two people looked at the paper twice and DGAF?

This is either going to turn out to be one of those intentional hoaxes to test the scientific community, or we are all actually just doomed.

@davidmbarnett.bsky.social rightly looks askance at the use of "bravely" to describe people living with/fighting cancer, but this is, undeniably, brave writing. All best wishes to him, and huge credit to the NHS.

Unless of course nothing is ever rejected by Sci Reports, which it seems must be the case 🤦🏻‍♀️

It apparently took humans almost 7 months to review this and they seem to have concluded that's a solid piece of research.

"Received 18 March 2025
Accepted 14 October 2025"

It took Gemini 43 seconds to make it very clear that's not the case.

Whole thing reads like ChatGPT. I don’t know the field, but the text seems very surface-level, and is organized strangely. Hardware specs are mentioned 2x briefly in the middle of data analysis, and they contradict each other. And “efficient data loading pipelines” with no further info is sus.

Some result for Martin O’Neil to bow out on if that is his last game. I really think Celtic should give him the league cup final tho. It’s only 2 or so weeks away and might buy some much needed goodwill from their fans
