Until we honour the history that First Nations people carry, we’re not truly sharing this land - we’re just standing on it.

When a platform is given to deny or minimise the truth of colonisation, it gives cover to prejudice. It lets racism lift its head, dressed up as “opinion.”

We have to stop picking and choosing whose pain we believe.

And why does it feel, in recent times, like some people feel newly entitled to speak racism out loud - simply because one Aboriginal political voice is being used to justify views they already held?

So why is the deep, intergenerational trauma experienced by Aboriginal families so often ignored, dismissed, or blamed on the people themselves?

We grieve with communities after floods, fires - we understand the deep disruption to lives, land & community spirit. We recognise trauma can be deep, complex & passed from one gen to the next. We know how to listen. We know how to care. We know how to respond to suffering - when we choose to.

We show empathy for farmers battling drought, fire and loss - we recognise the toll on lives, land and livelihoods.

We listen to those affected by suicide and mental health crisis - and we recognise how that pain can ripple through families.

We support veterans impacted by war - we honour their service and the scars they carry.

We acknowledge the long-term harm caused by institutional child abuse - its impact echoing through generations.
