Our kids. Your kids. All kids.
This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/
Important conversation with @ebyard.bsky.social who clearly and concisely explains what you've been feeling in your gut all along.
On this week’s TLP episode, @imarajones.bsky.social talks with @ebyard.bsky.social about how anti-trans attacks in schools fit the right-wing authoritarian project, & with @neapresident.bsky.social on how communities and educators are responding.

A big part of why I use the ballot drop boxes is that WA has statewide standards for how the boxes get emptied & the ballots get transported. USPS doesn’t have the same requirements of care.

I’m grateful to @atg.wa.gov Nick Brown for leading a lawsuit demanding that Trump release funding that Congress already approved to keep SNAP benefits going in November so families don’t go hungry.

Republicans are using the government shutdown to illegally rip SNAP benefits away from 42 million Americans.

16 million children are at risk of going hungry. The extremists don’t give a damn.

You deserve better.

One great thing to see at the Cincinnati #NoKings rally was lots of people engaging with local organizations that had tables – there were political organizers, labor unions, charitable organizations, human rights groups. Looking for a next step? Reach out to your local organizations.

It is still there! I, sadly, grew up on the Eastside and didn't learn about it until I left for college. But they. Are. AWESOME. And I wish every state had at least one place like that for their kiddos. :/ But I had NOT heard of imi.guide. That's excellent. Thank you!
In Seattle, sending love. If you know of any national youth care/safe space network looking to be proactive on all this, let me know. It feels like everyone's just holding their breath. We're in a blue state, looking at middle schools, just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Portlander Mateo Garcia arrived at the ICE facility Wednesday with a gray and white Andalusian horse named Príncipe. He said he visited the site to represent Mexican people who can’t protest due to deportation fears.

We can look to our history of wins here in Washington state for guidance on how to move forward. Proud to be celebrating LGBTQ History Month.

I fought hard here in Washington state to protect a ban on conversion therapy.

The federal government is also making cruel and illegal attacks on transgender individuals which our Attorney General Nick Brown has been fighting in court.

Washington state has a rich history of LGBTQ individuals fighting for equal rights and making extraordinary contributions to our state.

However, LGBTQ rights are still under attack today. For example, there’s a court case seeking to overturn Colorado's ban on conversion therapy.
Isn't that OUR house?
We can stop paying taxes now, right?
