If I were a football club, and a women’s squad player in her late 20s got engaged and married to a man… I’d plan sensible cover for her position in case of pregnancy - rather than calling it “unexpected” and having to rely on a 14-year-old as backup.

After my ice cream making efforts over the last two days, I now have six egg whites to find a use for. I suspect there may be meringues...

Really, considering how well resourced they are, this is a massive cock-up by Australia's police and intelligence agencies. Most likely due to organisational and process factors, rather than available powers or resourcing.
Focussing on this from a pure security perspective, it’s wild that an IS-linked attack was just carried out in Australia and we’re barely talking about it - the focus is on protestors and universities.

Yearly tax affairs have been signed off and lodged with the tax office. And it looks like a small refund is due to me as well. Accountant has been paid and basically I'm done for the quarter (aside from quarterly activity statement, which is a task for the new year).

It must really burn Josh that not only do people think he's incompetent, they can also see straight through his naked opportunism. Remarkably like his idol and mentor, Costello.
After a staged performance & blaming the PM for the actions of #Bondi attackers, Josh Frydenberg snaps at the question on everyone’s mind.
Sarah Ferguson “How do we not see this through a political lens?”
Frydenberg, having already personalised blame, can’t handle it #abc730

2026: the year to make Sam Altman cry.
i want to point out how different this is from previous technological changes like smartphones and the world wide web. people were chomping at the bit to get smartphones and were upgrading them every year or two because they saw how much they benefited from the technology.
We can do even more.

Not yet 07:00 and the last pre-christmas shop at Queen Victoria Market is done. Sorting out #coffee (or two), then it's home and #running.

Made another batch of both blackened fish spices mixture, and salted liquorice ice cream. Plenty of spice mix for gifting. And ice cream for christmas lunch.

Went to run a couple of small errands and it's really quite spicy outside. Hot and windy, never a fun combination. It also appears that overnight temperatures will stay in the low 20-something celcius range, so tomorrow's post QVM run will be *fun*.

Not only was the "look how fast Australia reacts to gun violence" stuff presumptious, the specific guy who enacted those 1990s gun laws has gone full on racist maniac, decrying gun control and turning the Bondi attacks into a xenophobic hate-fest (journalists euphemise this as a "culture war")
John Howard’s dog-whistle intervention in gun debate all but dashes any hope of meaningful reform
In the absence of strong, swift action from Anthony Albanese, the former PM is shifting political debate from gun control to a divisive culture war

“John Howard’s contribution, with its focused criticisms of Albanese, was unbecoming for a former prime minister. The effect of his intervention was to give his assent to the Coalition to go full bore on politicising Bondi.”

Howard has gone too far. His comments about Albanese tear us apart
Slagging off the man entrusted with trying to steer the nation through this powerfully difficult moment will not help John Howard’s side of politics.

I think we're all deeply offended that Josh reappeared from beyond the S-bend, like a turd that won't flush.
Australia’s former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg — who was exposed running illegal political ads of the CEO of Guide Dogs Victoria for his own political gain — says he’s “deeply offended” at suggestion he could be politically self-serving.

The unedifying spectacle of relentless political gamesmanship, obscures the fact that Sunday's events were a massive failure of intelligence and police services. What's required is a clear-eyed analysis of the failures and action to ensure such failure doesn't occur again in future....

Nice to see failed tennis professional, and quite possibly Australia's least competent treasurer, cynically using tragedy to burnish his credentials. Quite likely planning a second run in politics. The citizens of Kooyong should rightly bloody his nose again.

Bondi exposed huge holes in our security framework. The right’s ‘distraction’ narrative will endanger all Australia.

This afternoon's planned rehearsal has been cancelled, so I'll put my time to other uses. First up is making a big batch of blackened fish spice mixture, for gifting purposes. Then might tackle making a half litre of salted liquorice ice cream, which will be eaten at christmas lunch.

This is such CEO Brain bullshit, from a class that is so morbidly afraid of missing The Next Big Thing that they all end up like ants in a death loop because as soon as someone starts chasing a trend, the rest mindlessly follow, no matter how glaringly, obviously bad the trend is.

Good piece about musical pioneers, Essendon Airport, in The Age this morning. Might have to arrange another #HPF show with them on the bill as well.

Glad I got out #running early as it was a pleasant 13°C - though today's high is predicted to reach 32°C. It was already bright and sunny along the river at 06:30.

In fairness to Dan, he's only just learnt to tie his own shoes. So the delay was due to him wanting to dress himself, like a big boy.
Dan Tehan’s disclosure is also very late, coming more than 3 months after he hamfistedly outed himself on broadcast TV staying at the luxury 5-star $1800/night Hay-Adams hotel at the “epicentre of downtown Washington DC” courtesy of benefactor, Charles Kiefel.
