We have to hold the line here, otherwise future candidates are going to get *millions* of dollars in childcare expenditures paid for by their parents, in complete violation of the spirit of campaign finance laws

Has to be weird to be a Republican, where paying capital gains taxes is tyranny but getting shot in the face isn't

It's very strange to watch Dodgers fans try to make jokes that only work if the Dodgers are bad.

You won half of the last six World Series! Go be a Rockies fan if you want to complain about your team, this is stolen valor.

sort of along my recent repost, the issue at hand has been the same since the dawn of capitalism: when automation increases productivity, who gets to capture the value of that productivity increase?

the beef is not with the productivity. it's with the value capture

Deterministic also doesn't mean predictable

- Algorithms that are n log n on average but n^2 in your use case
- SQL query planners that use a much worse search strategy than expected
- Compilers that don't optimize away an observable invariant

etc etc
