It’s vague enough to be scary but not specific enough for many people to know if they’re a target. You can get people to do (or not do) a LOT out of fear of the unknown. And, they can just say anyone is in the wrong. It’s part of getting people to comply in advance.

That’s the point. Because antifa is not actually an organization, they can just say anyone is in it. who/what counts as “antifa” is PURPOSELY vague and broad. that’s how they catch you in the net: they don’t tell you where the net lands. So people try to preemptively make sure it doesn’t catch them.

Considering the fact that Antifa means anti-fascism, you would expect for most people to be antifa unless they are, in fact, pro-fascism.
