Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

The BBC de-platformed a science communicator for refusing to be silent in the face of hatred.

What are the chances Brian Cox, married to one of the prime initiators of the British anti-trans movement, has very little to say on his co-presenter being forced out of his job for his pro-trans rights views?

Another point I made on Scotland Tonight on Wednesday, though given tight timeslot I didn't add that parties of centre shifting right on immigration is what raises the salience of such issues and then encourages their voters to vote for "stronger" voice on that. Result today further proof in pudding

Congratulations you have just spoken to someone whose first language IS NOT ENGLISH.

Yet Reform's xenophobia and England's British exceptionalism has cooked brains so thoroughly they've forgotten they're even talking about Scotland.

It's incredible this debate has even happened without seemingly a single mainstream British commentator noting that Scotland just made Scots and Gaelic official languages and *well over half* of Glaswegians speak Scots as their first language
This is a really appalling editorial error on BBC Question Time

"Apparently one in three children don't speak English as a first language, why does this matter?"

Chair says "have English as a second language"

Caption changes the meaning entirely
"Don't speak fluent English"

Has Question Time Anas Sarwar met *any time in the past eighteen months* Anas Sarwar?

Because briefing hostility against immigration and backing his own party's assaults on immigration and asylum seekers is just what he does.
When you have your finger on the pulse and totally aren't in deep denial over the state of your own party.

The Anas Sarwar you ordered - "Would never lead an anti-immigration campaign, I say, in December 2025"

The Anas Sarwar you got - "Clearly anti-immigrant campaigning ever since the election."

Whenever I hear that tech bros are talking about the singularity and that is their drive behind AI I am intensely sceptical.

Because I've met guys like that, and they don't really *believe* anything. They'll say whatever it takes to make themselves sound cool.

And they're bad at that.
Honestly, like most of the Diary of a CEO interviews, I think this is largely bollocks.

Not because the tech bros *aren't* saying this, but because I don't think they really believe it. I think they're all engaged in a play-act display of how intellectual and high-brow they are with each other.

It's telling that the language that the political centre are using about Zack Polanski and his policies are *much* stronger than they've used for Nigel Farage or in relation to any of his policies.

Despite, as we know from a *lot* of polling, the fact that Green policies are not very divisive.

Duncan Hothersall criticising "London-based" @stephenkb.bsky.social for having a "caricature" understanding of SNP politics is very funny.

There's no group in the UK that has more of a caricature view of their political opponents than that of the Scottish Labour right towards the SNP.

Best ever list vote and joint best constituency for the Greens here (certainly, of any BBS covered poll), though Ipsos do tend to be on the higher end. Worst Labour constituency share of this term. Alba such a tiny proportion of respondents they don't even register; was 2% on list last poll.

I think this can be officially considered the moment in which Keir Starmer buried the legacy of his ever having been a human rights lawyer, never to be mentioned again.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called late yesterday for a reform of the European Convention of Human Rights as European nations move to get tougher on migration.
Frederiksen and Starmer push to water down Europe’s human rights treaty
“The current asylum framework was created for another era. In a world with mass mobility, yesterday’s answers do not work,” say Danish and British leaders.
