Nature loving, politics and current affairs junky who has been lucky enough to end up in the Czech Republic after years of being a teacher in NYC, a human rights activist in Latin America and a book lover wherever I've gone.
The NYT often hedges about DJT's & MAGA's bigotry, but it's more than clear that there is no fight about it from DJT or JD - they are both explicitly white supremacists. Until the GOP abandons the current admin, they're complicit for its transactional racism. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/21/u...

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

All this defiling of America, these symbolic shifts from "We the People" to a personalist regime, must be removed entirely as soon as the American people regain their democracy.

The gross bribe-funded ballroom, the illegal "Department of War," the illegal renaming of the Kennedy Center, all of it.

Today I received FOUR death notifications for people in ICE custody. That's 30 deaths since Trump took office. It's appalling & unacceptable.

ICE is required—by law—to ensure detainees are safe & their basic needs are met. It's clear this isn't the case. We NEED answers.

President Trump says that checks for $1,776 each are going out to nearly 1.5 million servicemembers. I have questions.

+ When did Congress approve such a plan?
+ Where is the money coming from?
+ How is it non-taxable? Did Congress vote to do that?
I'm sure there must be specific bill text.

It's twisted that DJT partly won based on the efforts of right-wing media to paint the administrative state as a threat to democracy only to create an authoritarian version w/ Russel Vought and Stephen Miller leading it - two of the most unelectable men imaginable. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/17/o...

DoJ has been destroyed under DJT & Bondi, but telling the AG to sue states that don't support the US’ global AI dominance is beyond f'd up. Giving a few oligarchs free rein is the fastest way to bring about a 1984 dystopia. Wasn't the GOP the party of states' rights? www.nytimes.com/2025/12/11/t...

Golden visas have been around for awhile (US, UK, Malta) & were always more about money laundering & gaining access than investments. W/ DJT it's just another form of extortion, esp given the new extreme vetting for those not rich enough to enter the US this way. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/10/u...

Can anyone be surprised that crypto is being used mainly by bad actors out to launder as much money as possible from anywhere, when DJT's kids, along w/ the Lutnik's & Witkoff's sons are all in on crypto. Crypto is simply corruption on steroids for the 21st century. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/07/t...
