What we often ignore is how conspiracy theories serve as the glue that holds together a self-identified community, and collectively repeating and developing those conspiracy theories serves as the ritual practice Gellner (citing Durkheim) ascribes to pre-rational/scientific human cognition.

a lot of our issues comes from the failure to speak plainly. the mainstream media is filled with too many people who wanted to be creative writing types and pack their work with literary flourishes meant to entertain instead of inform, while the political class has too many lawyers trying to obscure

Very useful chart from Berenberg - the blue bars are the tariffs that could be removed if the US Supreme Court strikes down Trump's emergency tariffs (though the White House could well respond by using other tariff legislation to try to re-impose them)
