Hello Bluesky! I thought I should introduce myself, I have been using the beer yeast handle for about 20 years now on blogs but was never on the bird site. I’ll post more about myself later but the beautiful GSD in my profile is my late girl Bella, I rescued her and she rescued me.
We took a sunset happy hour cruise on the Seine, it was lovely and included a glass of wine or champagne 🥂 #Paris #France

One of my first days in Paris last month I went birding in the Jardin du Luxembourg and saw the sun shining on this statue and thought it would make a nice picture. #France #JardinduLuxembourg #Paris

I didn’t get many pictures of my new lifers but here’s one, a Pied Avocet feeding in the Camargue, a huge estuary in southern France 🇫🇷 that is excellent for birding. #birds #birding

My final count for new bird species on our trip to France (including the Pyrenees and the Camargue) and Portugal is 66, so the total on my life list is now 808. Travel and some terrific guides can really help. #lifelist #birding #birds #France #Portugal

Oh yeah, over 60 new lifers on the trip and I’m still going over notes but the new total will be over 800. #birds #lifers #lifelist

Bonjour and Bom Dia Bluesky! I am back home after an amazing trip to Europe. I’ll post some photos later but I still need some time to catch up on sleep and figure out how many new birds are on my life list- will I get to 800? It’ll be close.

24 hours to go! France 🇫🇷 Portugal 🇵🇹 and even a stop in Andorra 🇦🇩 just for fun. After tomorrow morning I won’t be on here until I get back. 🛫🚄🚆🚗🗺️🌇🖼️

Only a few more days until we fly to Europe for a nice long trip, hope to add a lot of new lifers. France 🇫🇷 and Portugal 🇵🇹 with my love, and no social media on that phone to distract me. I’ll post a few more things but Thursday begins a long quiet here.

friends with large accounts, I'm not going to pester you personally but just generally speaking, I would sure appreciate a signal boost on this thing. We seem to have leveled out, and since this is a one-shot (won't be in bookstores) I'd like to get it out there as much as possible.

Bhutan Glory (Bhutanitis lidderdalii): This is a species of swallowtail butterfly (family Papilionidae), which is found in Bhutan, parts of northeastern India and of Southeast Asia. A spectacular insect sadly much sought after by collectors. Listed rare under CITES. #butterfly #wildlife #nature

I hope this is real because it sounds very cool.
Incredible. I’m going to eat 50 oysters and jump out a window to test if this works 👍
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

I’m really kind of surprised and flattered that anyone would follow me. I’m pretty boring but thank you anyway.
I won’t be posting anything for a bit over a month because I will be traveling and I have no social media on my travel phone.
