For Fansplaining (!) I wrote about a passion topic - Blake's 7 and early fandom conflicts.
Our first piece of the year is live—and it's a big one! With the recent release of the classic BBC sci-fi show Blake's 7 on Blu-ray, @scenicrailway.bsky.social looks back at the infamous 1980s clash between fans and creators that became known as the Slash Wars. 🚀 Read or listen to an audio version:
The War That Almost Broke a Classic Fandom — Fansplaining
Blake’s 7 fans and actors mixed regularly at cons and on the pages of zines—until an anonymous letter changed everything.

Excellent list! I would add "The Hatton Garden Job" (2017) with Matthew Goode. Based on a real jewel robbery. Also good is "The Duke" (2020) with Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, and Matthew Goode. Another true robbery - this time from The National Gallery in London.
I was one or two rows away from binding off the body of my sweater but I found a mistake row about five rows back 😖
I feel like shooting my shot because my notifs are still insane rn
The tailor shop stuff is extremely funny considering Man From UNCLE. If @brennanleemulligan.bsky.social happens to see this please let me know if it was intentional. (I know it's generally a trope buuuuut)
You're undeniably wrong but I forgive you.
Every time Peyton Place uses Teardrop City it throws me for a loop and they use it A LOT
Yeah, I'm excited to check it out!
Yeah I'm struggling with it too! It's such a broad definition now as well that being "in fandom" doesn't even mean the same thing it did 10 years ago.
If I could pay for Beacon this wouldn't be a problem!!
I keep thinking of all the things I'd like to do and then reminding myself it's a CritRole night
Oh, sometimes a project will be stalled for months or years! For example, I have not picked up Cheers or X-Files since Feb but then will watch 10 eps at a time.
I think maybe because it sounds more like slang and fan networks sounds really formal. I think it's technically more accurate and can shift our thinking but we're not going to get the majority to switch.
