Mcl have split the lower wishbone in two, to create a unique multilink setup.
Its an aero solution, not possible with a wishbone. Along with the clever steering trackrod & angled top wishbone. The MCL39 downwashes more flow to the floor, for more downforce.

Yes, a small increase, offset by the aero gains. Assuming Mcl are at the min' weight limit.

No reason. I like the look, I often go on to add full colour to the drawings.
Again a high/wide inlet creates a huge undercut, thats also double curved at the rear, to manage flow over the floor edge details. The vertical inlet cleans up the boundary layer formed along the chassis side, making the undercut flow more effective.
Rear outboard suspension is similar to RB20
The cockpit cooling inlets are similarly placed to 2024, but now feed the turbo intercoolers right at the back of the sidepod.
Making use of a localised pressure point, some contorted ducting and relocated intercoolers for a clever overall solution.
Red Bull #RB21 details.
Although little has changed externally, the car is different in a few areas.
Both long and short nose tips were tested, these affect the undernose airflow to the floor. The general suspension & rearward cockpit layout is similar to 2024.

Cont'd.. .
The sidepod shape is a big departure. With high/wide inlet, creating a huge undercut to load the floor edge for more downforce.
Tyre wake us managed by the flat flank to the didepod. Which is kept slim at tgecrear bumy the large cooling slot.
Rear outboard suspension is subtly revised
Details of the Merc #W16
The main change is the switch to the steering trackrod to behind the lower wishbone. This directs more to the floor.
The nose bulge and cockpit front, may be an aero trick to shed downwash off the chassis top.

Finally an #F1 2025 race week.
It's also my 25th season covering #F1Tech. My plans for this year are a bit different
I've decided not to continue with F1TV. I'm still going to be covering F1, but travelling to look at other race series too
You'll find me here, on twitter & Insta.
#WECtech on the list, unlikely I'll get to IMSA on my budget
