When I was younger I would listen to Rush or Hannity, and joke that I was “keeping an eye on the opposition.” I would find myself yelling at the radio in the car so I stopped bc it was bad for me.
MMFA took that idea, and did it at scale, and broke the brains of some really talented journalists.

"respectability politics" are unfair and you should assess whether you're expecting your interlocutors to meet arbitrary and shifting class etc markers before you listen to them.

also "respectability politics" are good strategy & it can be valuable to manufacture "respectable" branches of movements

Like I said, I know it’s stupid to expect
saysceej.bsky.social
Eh it’s not a strategic move they don’t fucking care. But the NEW YORK FUCKING TIMES should be saying it.
saysceej.bsky.social
I know that this is stupid to expect at this point…but it’s illegal. And not like in a “it doesn’t say a dog can’t play” way, but in an explicit “under no circumstances may a dog play and this isn’t just a rule in this league this is fundamental to the actual game” way.

President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

I’d even go one further and say that performing Billy shakes with tights and swords is lazy and uninteresting, unless you do something *else* unexpected to make up for it. I saw a R+J with a lady Mercutio and it really highlighted just how much of their relationship was an unrequited crush on Romeo.

Shakespeare is taught completely wrongly and any class on a Shakespeare play ought to start with watching one of the adaptations.

What's your totally ordinary opinion about books that you nonetheless find compelled to share when asked on a social media site such as this one for your most extreme/unhinged/hottest takes?

I'll go first: manga is popular among young people because manga often features young people.

If you are still talking about Biden and Gaza in October of 2025 you don’t actually care about Gaza.
saysceej.bsky.social
Who made this head of state political? What the hell?
saysceej.bsky.social
A little bit about propaganda. bsky.app/profile/says...

The aid was immediately halved Alex. Continuing the 10 months of starvation but with dudes like you pretending it’s done actually isn’t better.
saysceej.bsky.social
The children are still being starved to death Alex.

For a *LOT* of people, particularly on this app, Gazans were simply a useful cudgel to beat up libs.
nicholasgrossman.bsky.social
I feel thrown by the widespread proclamations of a glorious, lasting peace in Gaza. A lot even treats “now that it’s all over” as the unquestioned premise.

It still looks like a disaster to me. Am I way off? Are my domestic politics distorting my view? Either the consensus is wrong or I am.

My candidate, who is an unstoppable force, cannot overcome a 78 year old woman with a dem electorate looking for change and youth but is sure to beat the incredibly successful campaigner after her.

THE DNC AND ITS OFFICERS DO NOT ENDORSE IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS —PERIOD!

THE DNC IS NOT FOR— OR— AGAINST YOUR FAVORITE CANDIDATE. WE SUPPORT THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEES CHOSEN BY VOTERS.

WE FOCUS ONLY ON BEATING REPUBLICANS SO GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR US.

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

These people aren’t serious, they are cosplayers and they’ll be on red scare or similar by the time we hit the midterms.

All the Free DC posters say "Prioritize joy. Take up space. Organize" and it's such a damning indictment of how the left thinks politics works that two-thirds of your propaganda poster are about your mental health instead of a call to do anything

There’s also the fact that like, this person, making almost $60K was nowhere near the poverty line, and the fact that they think they were is sort of proof that people who were ACTUALLY at the poverty line were mostly doing better.
saysceej.bsky.social
Possibly, but it’s still a weird practice because the name is presumably visible in the title.

Literally the only time I remember it in LA was at the Mexican place in LA Live. Rosa Mexicana or something I think?

But also, it was pretty good Guacamole
