The Dark was my favourite of the magic expansions, its art is amazing. (I also stopped playing Magic before the end of the Millennium, so maybe I’ve missed some better sets? Probably not. 😂)

(materials lesson: while the paper for map 1 and 2 is, probably, the best non-cotton watercolour paper I tried so far, if I do anything my way I still need to go with my usual cotton paper, as my lineart pen doesn't work on pulp paper and doing the lines with fineliners wears the nib very quickly)

The first person I saw at Dragonmeet was @lostpages.co.uk! That was a great start.

If you are at Dragonmeet you can buy Break!! from the man himself @greywizard.bsky.social — who of course is not pictured. An award winning game. It even won an Ennie!

The power of good graphic design is I had zero interest in Blades ‘68 till … I mean basically right this second.
Blades '68! It's all go!

Here are some chapter openers I've been working on.

Coming back to England is always nice, gives me a chance to catch up with all my old G+ friends. This is a photo of me and Bobby Bastionland, the guy that made your favourite Bastionland game. Hope to see everyone else tomorrow. If I am lucky I’ll see Ignacio Odd, the guy that made Into the Odd.

Two brave souls attempt to define the OSR — and succeed? Sharing two posts I found and enjoyed recently.
Save vs. Total Party Kill - Defining the OSR
I have joked on Twitter that the three defining characteristics of the OSR are: No one can agree what the OSR is. No one can agree what the R stands for. The OSR is always over.It takes bravery to ...

Agreed: this is a nice and tidy blog post all about the OSR.
ive struggles for ages to explain my deepset love for OSR design tools to other ttrpg folks and im grateful someone has finally written a blogpost that so clearly elucidates how OSR play is built. required reading imo

Currently wandering London. I like seeing borough market, but each year I come it’s even more crazy than the last.

I needed small hexmap for a small dreamland today and didn't have Hexkit installed on my phne but had my paints at hand.
(turns out to make hexmaps is much easier than to make a usual maps because there is no need to care about terrain and colour coherency, perspective, overlays and so on)

As definitions of the OSR go, this one is pretty great. (Except Luke’s ego is already so big he doesn’t need another shout out.)

Believe it or not, I’m the only person reading a Warhammer book at this pub.

Another pub, another review. Space Gits by @planetsmashergames.bsky.social is inspired. If you buy one game this Christmas about drunk orks causing a ruckus, make sure it’s this one.
Save vs. Total Party Kill - Space Gits
Space Gits an odd duck of a game by the man himself Mike Hutchinson. Mike asks the question, “can you model a game around drunk-ass orks being drunk asses?” I would have to say the answer is a resound...

Sitting in a pub in London, drinking some cask ale, reading MAC ATTACK, as one does.
Save vs. Total Party Kill - MAC ATTACK
I mail a lot of books to my brother in the UK. There were a few books waiting for me when I arrived in London this morning. One of those books was Chris McDowall’s latest war-game, MAC ATTACK. This is...

Jason has been talking about this RPG on and off for the last little while, but the opening for this podcast really highlights the epic Dark Souls nonsense he’s channeling.
Finally, if you just want to know more about what The Lands Remaining is in an easy-to-consume audio format, @thebadspot.bsky.social and I have a preview of our new podcast up on the free Gauntlet Patreon feed. Come hear what all the fuss is about!
