Knowing I am working, mum asked me if she can call me. Made it sound very sentimental. Well, okay, I am home alone these days I kind of sympathised.

Called, ruined my mood, her job is done here. I am back to work.

I am glad my Lithuanian language teacher in my formative years (only one of them in the high school years lol) supported me reading one rather difficult and interesting book a year instead of 10 of them from the “recommended” list

The social anxiety I feel before every Finnish lesson.

I am mortified. I will be asked a spontaneous question which I will have to answer in front of everyone. Then communicate with someone a lot of time.

Tbf I started seeing that whole ‘welfare state’ as abusive against the newcomers (a prevention?) over the last year, since that was what pretty much made me feel så damn unwelcome here.

Also, the fact Finns were så upset about the whole meat lobbying around the legislation that prohibits calling vegetarian burger burger and in the Baltics (at least in Lithuania) not even the Greens gave an F

Balts are hardworking, they have known no other way for a good reason and they think it’s your hard work you should be paid for. I cannot believe anything Nordics believe would work for the Baltics, unless something radically changed.

When Balts want to be Nordic, they don’t know what they wish for.

The value system is entirely different. I am ‘radical left’ in my home country and here I am somewhere in the centre, confused by the power social security holds at every step I go.
