Vertrauen in den Staat hängt auch davon ab, ob der Staat sein Wort hält. Ob auf das, was der Staat verspricht, Verlass ist. Oder ob der Staat eben wie hier undankbar, unzuverlässig, ehrlos agiert. Wer das nicht kapiert oder für unwichtig hält, sollte keine staatliche Verantwortung bekommen.

Es ist eine Katastrophe in dieser Megakrise einen Kanzler zu haben, der nicht mal im Ansatz in der Lage ist, zu begreifen, was Europa bedeutet und was er mit einem solchen Satz anrichtet
Das ist ein ungeheuerlicher Aussage, die Kanzler Merz heute in Mainz in Richtung USA getätigt hat, so begräbt man die EU: "Ihr braucht auf der Welt auch Partner. Und einer der Partner kann Europa sein und wenn ihr mit Europa nichts anfangen könnt, dann macht wenigsten Deutschland zu eurem Partner."

the birthright clause was not just written to wipe dred scott off of the books, it was written to repudiate the *idea* behind dred scott, you might say the larger *ideological project* of dred scott. and the whole of section 1 of the 14th amendment is a constitutional statement of political equality
