Excellent move. It would be virtually impossible for the Government to argue both that trans people never had the rights they thought they had, and that the UK had been in compliance with Goodwin.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

The Fenway was my health care centre when I still lived in Boston in the '90s and early 2000s. I *just* told someone about them literally yesterday.

Incredibly angry that they capitulated so easily.

This needs to be fought.

This is what Democratic lawmakers need to be doing: not giving up on groups that are unpopular because they've been targeted by hate campaigns, but TEACHING the public why those groups are being targeted and standing up for them.

My favourite is Mint - it's basically Ubuntu with a better desktop (Cinnamon) and without all the Snap crap and other Canonical annoyances. The best thing is it's compatible with practically everything.

Will definitely have to check out some of the other distros named in this thread, though.

Either NYT staff were incredibly lazy and didn't bother to fact check, or they made a considered decision not to do so.

It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.
