62:poor things
very good movie, tho i thought it have been a bit more challenging as a film
it was way more funny than disturbing
quite lovely really
61: videodrome
very fun movie
i never seen a Cronenberg movie before but now i understand the hype
the signal talk was fun and it had some nice effects
tho i do feel that the statement the movie makes is somewhat confused, in a somehwat shallow way
still it makes me want to watch more of his stuff
long story short, that way i feel about his games is that they flirt with interesting ideais but often underdeliver
all of a sudden i'm thinking about my relationship to hashino games again
also the plots could be more punchy... a lot of the things in metaphor just kind of felt like eehhhh...
the cast isn't that fun and i just don't care that much aside from lui and eupha
like, the ship traveling system
i thought it would allow for some player freedom but it ended up just being boring
i just kind want that freedom that he just doesn't give in his games
basically what i'm saying is that while yeah it is a more sophisticated system than like idk amagami
it lacks a good chunk of the charm by railroading the player for like half of the game
like let's put it like this in a gameplay sense p5 was a very restricting game
comparing it to something like doukyuusei which allows it for much more freedom but has way less content it just becomes less satisfying to interact with the ingame world
they're pretty good but also
always too sanitized in a way that makes it harder for me to connect with them in a meaningful way
aside from p3 p3 is the goat
all of a sudden i'm thinking about my relationship to hashino games again

“When they rob us of art and emotion, that leads us towards the aesthetics of fascism. In this film, all the sets are real, the decor is human-sized, there are painstakingly created miniatures... It’s there to remind us that art is not only necessary, it is urgent. And AI can go fuck itself!”
i never seen the original so i guess i'll watch this
and read the manga
and watch the original
they're all on the list...

Considering how far behind AI discourse still is in Japan, where a lot of people regard it as benign, it's so nice to hear a dude of his stature take such a principled stand. There are others from his generation who haven't (I'm looking at you, Kazuma Kaneko... 😩), so you can't take it for granted.
Via @automaton-media.com, composer Uematsu: “I’ve never used AI & probably never will. I think it still feels more rewarding to go through the hardships of creating something myself. When you listen to music, the fun is also in discovering the background of the person who created it, right?"
