Hundreds of dollars per person and with potentially thousands of people at each event it very quickly becomes a influx of cash into an area that would be impossible to hide and would fundamentally alter the local economy at least in the short term.

Especially since the people who say these are paid protestors believe that the ONLY reason the people are there is that they are being paid which means you have to find enough people to show up and then you need to pay them enough to cover a near full days worth or work and travel.

The math does not remotely check out. Paying even a fraction of protesters enough to compensate them for their time would cost *insane* amounts of money.

I think gifting a child a high powered rifle might be a bit much but I do think everyone should at least be taught how to safely operate one and demystifying guns early without instilling worship of them is something I think is an overall good.

But it will not solve the violence problem. Yes there might be some kind of reduction but politicians will wave around that they passed some gun reform and then never address the actual Root causes. Leading to continued escalation.

Guns do not cause violence. Socio-economic struggles/oppression, political extremism, religious extremism, these things are the reasons people reach for weapons in order to say something. The assignation of Kirk might put enough behind gun reform that there is some kind of legislation passed

While I do not know what the training standard is currently when I was in the Basic rifle qualification for the corps was out to 500 yards. I spent my last year as a Marksmanship coach and I guarantee I could train almost anyone to consistently make a shot at 200yd in just a few hours

Because if the narrative is that “oh these politicians or protestors are actually pedos” the people who believe the narrative will shrug and go “guess they deserve it idc” and people who don’t believe it can’t or won’t speak up because then “oh look at this guy speaking up to defend the pedophiles”

As someone on the left it is disturbing to see how often the right boils everything down to “you just want to touch children” a LARGE percentage if not the majority of it is mirroring/projection. They have thoughts and desires about children know it is wrong
